Our little buddy is now working on a second hand...officially 6 years old and a pretty special little boy. Mommy made his requested ‘sixers colored’ birthday pancakes this morning and he was serenaded by GemGem. He even woke up to a snowstorm that we planned especially for his birthday...although, he didn’t believe we could make that happen. We opened presents from Mommy, Daddy, and Gemma and watched the snow fall all morning. Once we got motivated, it was off to New York City for a spring break getaway (only 38°) and birthday celebration.
We checked in to the DoubleTree and ate our chocolate chip cookies while we jumped on the beds to test them out. Had an awesome lunch on Third Avenue at the ‘legendary saloon’ PJ Clarke’s, in addition to a little history lesson (http://pjclarkes.com/our-roots/). It is important to maintain educational value while on spring break...even if it is in a bar. Spent the rest of the day walking around, scoping out hotel lobbies for Lucy feedings and cocktails, and wandering downtown for dinner in Little Italy.
We had dinner at a place called Piacere where the staff was very welcoming and great with the kids. Of course, Alex and Gemma picked chocolate soufflé for dessert, and Alex’s had a little something special on top. The whole restaurant sang him Happy Birthday and he was all smiles. I believe that brings him up to around 5 sets of candles and cakes so far. Six is pretty rewarding:)
