Day number two at the Magic Kingdom kicked off with some pastries at Gaston’s. Mommy and Alex split a cinnamon bun the size of Alex’s head and Gemma opted for ‘her own’ chocolate croissant. We met up with Uncle Frank and Aunt Amy to go to Ariel’s Grotto. Gemma was very excited to meet Ariel, but slightly unsure of what to expect. She asked Daddy, “if Ariel would be in a fish tank to keep her fin wet.” Fair question that requires and answer Walt Disney. She LOVED the ride too.
Next we hit Space Mountain, which Alex was really excited to see (or not see since it is pitch black the whole time). The shuttle is set up for single riders in a line. Alex got assigned to the very front seat and jumped right in without hesitation. Daddy was reaching up to make sure he wasn’t flying out, and he was laughing out loud the whole time. So dark, it was like just waiting to get hit in the face with a sneaker. Frightening. Afterward, he got to go on again with Mommy. He coached her the whole way up to the top:)
Gemma was a real team player since she couldn’t ride Space Mountain, so she requested getting her face painted. She also coerced Uncle Frank into buying her an ice pop while we were on the ride. Buzz Lightyear was a pretty cool ride for Gemma because she got to control the ship. She was spinning Daddy around so much we almost saw the Gaston’s again.
Alex got to go on the Minetrain twice later in the afternoon while Gemma played at Winnie the Pooh’s house. We met Tinkerbell, who doesn’t shut the hell up. Alex was making Lucy laugh while we waited in line, which made the downtime fun.
And then we got to take a boat to Fort Wilderness for Mickey’s Backyard BBQ. The adults finally got some booze and the kids got live music, dinner, dancing, and an opportunity to meet Mickey and Minnie. Gemma was a machine on the dance floor. We got back in time to watch the fireworks from our balcony, but Alex opted to watch the fourth quarter of the Sixers game instead.
