Today is the day the magic begins. It was a 5am wake up call for the kids and they were so excited that they had uncontrollable giggling. Alex and Gemma were big kids and stood with our bags (just inside the door) while Mommy and Daddy unloaded everything at the terminal. Lucy did great on her first flight and we were in Florida in no time. Alex was super pumped because he was expecting an overnight flight. Apparently, he has been to Europe too many times.
Our room was ready when we got into town so we made a quick pit stop to drop some stuff. Alex and Gemma are very excited that our balcony overlooks the lake and Magic Kingdom. Gemma says, “Alex...we are really lucky.” Grabbed a quick bite and off on the monorail to meet Uncle Frank and Aunt Amy for the kids’ first look at Cinderella’s castle. We HAD to get some photos on Main Street, which were mostly appropriate.
We quickly rode the teacups, but our first official stop at Gemma’s request was ‘Small World’ (or Small Wailed as Gemma says). Mesmerized! She was in awe at all the singing and dancing puppets. When it was done she said she loved it, but would only discuss it with Beeps. Next we did the Monsters Inc comedy show. It was really cute and had some great adult humor. We think Lucy enjoyed it most because she was laughing and talking out loud to the characters. We were in the front row, so she had a great view...her little voice was hilarious.
Got some ice cream and cookies for the kids, including the biggest kid...mommy. It was kind of amazing to see Alex decide he was going to dip his cookies in his ice cream. The very same thing his Cookie Monster mom did a minute earlier. We rode the carousel and visited with our first set of princesses. Meeting Cinderella was Gemma’s dream come true, but Alex had a crush on Elena. He talked about her all day...apparently he digs brunettes.
Gemma was our first casualty and fell asleep while riding in the stroller on our way to dinner. We ate at the California Grill in the Contemporary, which was fantastic. Great meal, great wine, great view. After dessert, we were able to go out on the terrace and watch the fireworks from the roof of the hotel. But not before watching Gemma dance for a little while. It was 9pm and they still had smiles on their faces.
Either this place is really magic or our kids are just awesome.
