We are really milking this weekend...plus sitting by the pool allows for hangovers to be worked out. We had breakfast at Lillipies with our overnight guests and then spent the rest of the day outside. Lunch at the pool and scooter rides in the afternoon around the neighborhood was very relaxing and required little effort. Lots of smiles. Lucy even got to ride her bike...with a little help.
august 25th - pool day...adult night
Lots of fun taking advantage of one of the few remaining CP pool days of the summer. Lucy loved sitting by the edge and splashing in the water. Mommy and Daddy both seized the opportunity to finally use the diving well. Daddy did a canonball off the high dive and Mommy kind of did a trip/leg scissor/nose grab/giggle flop. She was very proud of herself and the adrenaline is still pumping. So much so, that it carried her through our evening out in New Hope with Uncle Boogs and Aunt Amy. Great night celebrating Aunt Amy’s birthday and our freedom. The kids got to hang out with Grandmom Burger and watch movies.
august 24th - last day of camp
Last friday of camp for Alex and Daddy wanted to be home to pick him up. Blew off the afternoon of work and got to pick up GemGem for a lunch date at Nomad. As you can tell, we had a great time. The blueberry shortcake was unbelievable. We all went to camp to pick up Alex and we found him just walking around barefoot and topless eating krimpets. He has really gotten comfortable there this summer and he is already talking about going back next summer. They had lots of inflatable bouncers for the kids for a proper sendoff, so we watched Alex hit them up one last time.
august 23rd - hustled
Rough week of work equals a night out without having to cook. Daddy met the whole family in town on his way home from work and we were even heavy one additional kid. Alex ran into Makani while walking through town and he came along for a stop at the library and dinner at Yankee Doodle Taproom. Lots of fun seeing the kids play and run around.
After dinner there was a lifesize chessboard set up in Palmer Square. Alex challenged a guy to play and kicked his butt. After his beating the guy shook Alex’s hand and asked him how old he was...“6,” Alex says. Then the guy says, “I’m 29 years old and play chess a lot.” He was from New York and in the medical field. Proud moment for mommy and daddy. Alex got ice cream to celebrate his victory.
august 22nd - weeknight fun
Grandpa and Beeps came over today for some evening cocktails and stuck around for dinner. Daddy made some pasta that surprsingly to some patrons did not taste like dog crap. Lucy had a great time, as evidenced by her permanent smile.
august 21st - a bounce a bounce
It doesn’t get any cuter. She moves so fast now, all four of us are on high alert. She wants to pull herself up so badly but not quite there. She likes to get in her bouncer and work out her quads so she is ready to walk once she gets herself vertical.
august 19th - sunday chores
Breakfast at PJs this morning to jumpstart our day. “The one in Kingston,” at Alex’s request. We had a jam packed day of stores to visit...target, costco, grocery store, and even hit Dick’s where the kids got new diving masks. “For Mexico,” gemma says. When we came out of the store it was raining pretty hard, so they wore their masks the rest of the day. Got some pretty interesting looks from other shoppers.
Alex dropped Daddy’s iPad yesterday getting out of the car. Daddy made him go to the Apple store to figure out a solution. This was his first time in an Apple store. Mind. Blown. He made his Christmas list in two minutes. He even picked out an Apple Watch for mommy to say sorry for dropping the iPad. Mommy is now finding him other things of Daddy’s to break.
august 18th - morning laps
Gemma was up and out at the pool at 7:30am this morning. Gramps didn’t have a choice since it was his shift on the lifeguard stand. We visited Gramps bike ride setup this morning for some ice cream and then had lunch to wash down dessert. Gemma got a great tattoo that she picked all by herself.
august 17th - mediocre mom
All that stuff mommy is carrying and somehow she forgot Gemma’s goggles...c’mon. We had a nice pool day at Gramps and Grandmum’s house. Spent all day outside and then had movie night down at the pool this evening. Lucy stayed inside where it was cozy.
august 16th - u talkin’ to me?
Lucy wears the best yogurt mustache of anyone we know. She is starting to become very vocal but her favorite word is still da-da.
august 14th - number one baby
This one is growing fast and her little legs are chunking up. She has the best personality and does nothing but smile. Can’t be a better third child out there...
august 13th - mobilized
In less than a couple weeks, Lucy has gone from a strong desire and a slight wounded army crawl to now being fully mobile. Our lives are about to change, big time.
august 12th - sunday funday
Alex had a playdate with his buddy, Karkom, today at a park on the other side of town. He and Daddy went out for a biking adventure to get haircuts before dropping him off. Finally!!! Alex has been asking for a haircut all summer and he needed it badly. We left his bike at Karkom’s so when Daddy picked him up we could have a really cool ride home through the nature preserve.
august 11th - supporting local
Daddy went a got a nice spread of pastries this morning at Lilipies so we could have breakfast in our underwear. Once the rain ended we ran some errands, which ended at Terhune’s farm store for fresh produce, a quick glass of sangria, and the obligatory cider donuts for the kids. The sun came out for a bit and we went for a walk into town for dinner at Tacoria. We made it just in time and secured an outdoor table under an awning before torrential rain started. Needless to say we hung out for a while and finished off our wine before our mild jog home.
august 10th - grill day
Adult lunch at Witherspoon Grill today. Marathon afternoon that ended with some early bedtimes all around.
august 9th - the boards
Mommy and Daddy cut out of work early to take the kids down to the boardwalk in Point Pleasant. Lucy’s first time on the beach to touch the sand and the ocean. Alex and Gemma would have stayed forever and played in the waves. We went on lots of cool rides...and Gemma was so brave. She would stand on her tippy toes when they measured her so she could go on the big ones. She and Alex had tons of fun, but both disliked the ride known as Moby Dick. Looks of terror. Mommy giggled uncontrollably.
We played some games on the boardwalk too, which was really cheap! Mommy won Lucy a pig in a game that Daddy was throwing on purpose so the kids could win...no mercy apparently. Daddy won Alex a giraffe in basketball and both of the kids won themselves some items throwing darts. Gemma almost killed a guy with her first two but landed dart #3. Alex was awesome and hit three in a row.
august 8th - hump day
Beeps and Aunty Vicky came over this afternoon to watch the kids because Mommy and Daddy have had the worst week of work in history. Alex and Gemma got to introduce them to Sweetberry and açaí bowls. Apparently, Beeps was less than impressed with the all natural flavors of freshly blended fruits. Lacked butter. Gemma got some new ferries and was really pumped to take them out to her garden.
august 7th - community night
Big night out at the community pool today. Daddy met everyone at the pool and had to park ten blocks away. It was a huge event with tons of people. The fire department and police department were there grilling up free food, they had superheroes, popcorn, and SWIMMING. Gemma was doing the dead-man’s float to test the response time of the lifeguards. Alex ran into all his friends from school and they had a blast. Mommy walked Lucy home early and Alex and Gemma got to ride home with Daddy...in the FRONT seat. Proud moment for them.
