Gemma now climbs up on the chairs on her own...and apparently, makes phone calls. If you try to talk to her, she puts her hand up and says "stop...shhhh"
june 16th - like hell on earth
It is so damn hot. Alex had his second day of his soccer camp today, so he was taking a lot of water breaks. On the way home, he ripped his shirt off and walked down the street bare chested, cool, and proud. Gemma's hair is a pretty good indication that the humidity is out of control. Alex's new thing is dancing, so we have "dance party" every night in the kitchen.
june 15th - goooo.....soccer shots!!!!!
Our little boy started his first day of soccer camp today...basically just 30 minutes of him learning about soccer and teamwork. The group of kids was pretty small and he was pretty much the only one that stayed on the field throughout the entire time, so he got some good one-on-one teaching time. Coach Josh may have well been a alien when we first got there, but by the end he was Alex's buddy.
Alex was really quiet today, but at night when we got home, we would catch him doing the cheer by himself...."gooooo soccer shots!" Gemma was the biggest cheerleader.

june 14th - brace yourself for the ride home
Alex and Gemma were in it together and it was a peaceful trip. We left early to get home to Philly and made it back in only 4 hours....in time for lunch and naps in their own beds. It was a great weekend.
june 13th - hitting the beach
We planned, we packed up, we made it to the beach, we left 20 minutes later. Getting three kids and four hungover adults in two cars to the beach is riddled with complexity. There was enough time for Alex and Daddy to build "the best sandcastle EVER!!!" Gemma and Ben did some lounging...and we got in a pretty good stroll. Alex had his first outdoor shower and a walk in the yard with his bare behind swinging in the wind.
june 12th - the best day of alex's life
Kicked off the day with a trip to Goddard Park for the weekend Farmer's Market. As soon as we got out of the car, Alex went running to the miniature pony...huge smile while riding "Romeo" the horse. For some reason, Alex kept calling him "Oatmeal." Apparently the $5 we paid for his short ride also covered the rights to rename the horse.
For dinner, we went to "Chelo's on the Water"...very closely resembles a backyard family picnic with live music and prime location right on the water. From Alex's seat on the patio, he could see the boats, a high-speed passenger train that would periodically pass by, and the final approach of every airplane landing in Providence airport. It was the trifecta of enjoyment...his head literally almost exploded.
As dinner was ending, the band was getting started and Alex says "mommy, I want to go dance with you." We paid our bill, went down to the dance floor, and witnessed pure magic. Alex was bobbing his head and kicking his legs. He saw a girl do a handstand, so he created his own version of what he thought was a full handstand. In his heart, he was fully vertical.
Gemma had her first lesbian experience. This little girl from a different family was following her around and doing everything she did...including sitting on Daddy's lap. This did not go over well. Gemma almost scratched her eyes out to get her off Daddy's lap.

june 11th - rhode island bound
We kicked off a long weekend with a scenic ride up to Rhode Island with the kids. Starting early in the day was amazing because we got there in time for some playground time in Uncle Mike and Aunt Amy's back yard. Benjamin is all Alex talked about during the car ride up.
june 10th - michelle's last day
Today was Michelle's last day with the kids before Jackie comes back next week. Michelle brought donuts for the kids...which they very much appreciated and they got to play in the fire hydrant. Daddy met everyone down in East Passyunk for dinner at Bing Bing Dim Sum...of course that ended with gelato. Alex was a great big brother and shared with GemGem.
june 9th - desserts welcomed
Alex did a little drag racing on his bike today with Michelle...worked up his appetite to eat a cupcake that was the size of his face that Grandmom Burger brought to him. Gemma almost got arrested for breaking and entering....just a standard B&E at one year old....no biggie.
june 8th - cross dressing
Alex had a toilet mishap this morning where his stream got a little out of control. He had to wear Gemma's shorts for the rest of the morning at the park and was not the least bit embarrassed.
june 7th - free joy
Sideways sleeping three year old with restless leg on a pull out bed not recommended. Made it back to Philly today for a little catch in the park and in time for a Mexican Street festival in East Passyunk. Alex got a free cupcake from a guy wheeling them back to Termini Bros (score of his life) and almost took a large latina butt in the face while walking through the dance floor.
june 6th - everything must go
Mommy brought home a big stack of cash today. She sold just about everything that was not nailed down in the house...and some things that were nailed down. The kids went to cousin Farrah and Ashlyn's house for the day and put some miles on their bikes.
The guy who set up stuff on our front lawn for the sale gave Alex a riding tractor. It is a little closer to Gemma's size, so his willingness to share increased a bit.

june 5th - yard sale prep
The kids came with us to the new house so we could prep for Mommy's big yard sale. Alex really liked being able to run in and out of the house in the backyard. He was genuinely concerned though..."is this our new house? we're gonna live here?"
june 3rd - let's chat...woman to woman
Gemma watches TV like a 45 year old man. Alex got to be inside an ice cream truck today at Nest. If he had to choose his profession tomorrow, he would definitely be pursuing a career in mobile ice cream service.
may 31st - working for food
Strawberry picking in Newtown this morning with Jackie, Fred, and Emily. Gemma had no idea why she wasn't supposed to eat every strawberry she picked up.
We were in the fields at high noon, it was 86 degrees, kids melted down...ice cream for lunch.

may 30th - silent protest
Gemma decided that flopping on the ground was in her best interest to get what she wanted....we disagreed, so she just got dirty cheeks. We went to Jersey to celebrate Farrah's third birthday party and then Beeps and Grandpa made a nice dinner for us...Alex got in some thinking time in his rocking chair.
may 28th - mommy turns 34.0164
We finally celebrated Mommy's birthday properly with a gourmet meal cooked by daddy and her favorite cake....a stack of chocolate chip cookies with a candle on top. There we also a few bottles of adult beverages consumed to celebrate another notch on the old belt.
