june 12th - the best day of alex's life

Kicked off the day with a trip to Goddard Park for the weekend Farmer's Market.  As soon as we got out of the car, Alex went running to the miniature pony...huge smile while riding "Romeo" the horse. For some reason, Alex kept calling him "Oatmeal."  Apparently the $5 we paid for his short ride also covered the rights to rename the horse.

For dinner, we went to "Chelo's on the Water"...very closely resembles a backyard family picnic with live music and prime location right on the water.  From Alex's seat on the patio, he could see the boats, a high-speed passenger train that would periodically pass by, and the final approach of every airplane landing in Providence airport.  It was the trifecta of enjoyment...his head literally almost exploded.

As dinner was ending, the band was getting started and Alex says "mommy, I want to go dance with you."  We paid our bill, went down to the dance floor, and witnessed pure magic.  Alex was bobbing his head and kicking his legs.  He saw a girl do a handstand, so he created his own version of what he thought was a full handstand.  In his heart, he was fully vertical.

Gemma had her first lesbian experience.  This little girl from a different family was following her around and doing everything she did...including sitting on Daddy's lap.  This did not go over well.  Gemma almost scratched her eyes out to get her off Daddy's lap.
