We all walked the kids to school today to enjoy the weather. After dropping off Alex and Gemma, Daddy walks Lucy into town. She usually makes it a little past Community Park before she needs to be carried. She jumps down as soon as she smells the snacks.
september 22nd - antwoman
Lucy loves dressing up. “Daddy, look me”…not sure where she found this mask, but she sneaks up on you and it is quite a surprise.
september 21st - mommy walks
Mommy loves walking the bigs to school every day and listening to them talk. Crazy how old they are getting.
september 20th - emotions
Lucy was very concerned this morning for one of the characters in her “kid shows.” Her newest phrase is “oh dear”…absolutely hilarious.
september 19th - run mommies
Good thing they don’t like beer as much as the dads, because these two decided it would be a good idea to run a 5k this morning. Shockingly, the dads got all the kids to the finish line to cheer them on…after driving in a circle around all of New Hope due to road closures and a 1.5 mile hike with kids on our back. Somehow the moms won on this deal.
Straight from the run, Daddy had the pleasure of taking all three Burger kids on a 1.5 hour drive up to Westfield NJ for Alex’s soccer game, while Mommy got the day off to do what ever it was she pleased. Very little appreciation displayed.
september 18th - 🍻 beer 🍻
Adult day out in Newtown acting like children at the beer festival. It was balmy, but lots of cold beer and live music to sample and enjoy the outside. We had the VIP early ticket so we could get a head start on the crowd. Once they let in the masses, we ducked out to a local bar. Somehow we (Kelly) convinced some poor bastard to watch all seven kids, so we took advantage of the opportunity to go deep into the night. Most survived, but we took heavy casualties.
september 17th - sistaz
These two monkies treating our couch, as usual, like the local jungle gym. Lucy is loving school and we are loving seeing pictures from Ms. Lexi of her doing projects all week long.
september 16th - gmom 🍔
Mommy is back in the city for work, so we had a night out for dinner with Grandmom at The Meeting House. Gemma and Lucy got all dressed up (themselves) and we had a great time. The kids opted for dessert at Thomas’ so they got to show Grandmom what it was all about.
september 15th - fourteen years
Mommy and Daddy’s wedding anniversary today and we celebrated with a little gymnastics. Quite a party:).
september 14th - weeknight fun
Alex had soccer practice tonight after school and then we went to Beeps and Grandpa’s for dinner. The girls were big helpers getting the meal prepared.
september 13th - sweet mommy
Mommy looking pretty going into NYC for work. Back on mass transit, rubbing elbows with the people.
september 12th - more soccer
Day 2 of Alex’s soccer tournament was a little later today, so we got some time to chill in the backyard and ease into the day. It was a family affair today, and Gemma sniffed out some ice cream. Lucy made a friend, Emilia, and she is very proud.
september 11th - soccer tourney
Gemma had gymnastics this morning because Saturdays are the only open classes for her level. Apparently, the olympics and the closing of another nearby gym has created a less than ideal level of enrollment. Alex had a two-day tournament in North Jersey, so Lucy was along for the ride with the boys. Very little spectating and lots of snacking.
september 10th - girl’s day
Mommy picked Gemma up from school for her long-awaited eye exam. Hallelujah, she can see just fine. They stopped by Gemma’s favorite, Starbucks, for some celebratory mocha choca bullshits.
september 9th - first day (542)
All smiles for the big first day of school. Alex is pumped he has a male teacher, Mr. Rodos. Gemma is on a rinse and repeat with a second consecutive year with Ms. Hale and Señora Rodriguez….no she didn’t stay back:). The weather was really crappy so we didn’t get to do our family walk for first day drop-off.
Even bigger smiles for Mommy and Daddy as we are officially counting this as a return to normal life (with masks). Today marks the 542nd day after our lives were initially impacted by the pandemic and the first day they were sent home for “remote” learning. Never thought we could hate a word more than we have come to hate the word “remote.” Thankfully, Mommy’s influence has changed everyone in our house over to calling it “the tv box”…scrubbing the word from our vocabulary. Crossing our fingers that this really is the end.
