march 31st - daddy day out (380)

Alex and Gemma have half days on Wednesdays and Daddy tries to clear the calendar so we can go out for lunch. Today, Gemma chose to go to Rats at the Grounds for Sculpture because it is her favorite. It was Alex’s first time so she gave him the lay of the land. Gemma also found out we were going and went upstairs to “whip up” her own little outfit.

We had a table outside overlooking the koi pond, which was thankfully covered due to some lite rain. Gemma enjoyed the benefits the rain brought. “Do you like my curly hair?  Nature did it for me…nature is basically my friend.”

The kids agreed that they would both get profiteroles for dessert even though Alex hadn’t ordered them before. Gemma told him that he could pay for them “out of his college account.”  Alex was pleased with his order once they came and his description was that “profiteroles are basically just a wet cookie?”

At home, Mommy was busy whipping up Alex’s doubleheader birthday cake for his party tomorrow. Not too shabby.

march 30th - birthday begins (379)

Grandmom Burger came over to visit bearing gifts. Easter is around the corner, but more importantly, Alex was serenaded with his first round of ‘Happy Birthday.’  He is now a man that does not enjoy his picture taken, so we have to sneak them in when possible.

march 29th - monday jumpstart (378)

Daddy got the kids going this morning with a little extra nutella-based sugar rush. They walked extra fast to school.

march 28th - lucy’s other seat (377)

Lucy found her own seat to take in some Mickey Mouse this morning. Apparently, the wheels allow for a fast getaway.

march 27th - the big reveal (376)

Gemma was very proud today to provide a social media tour of her finished playhouse. The decorating has been completed (for now) and Daddy can finally rest. A few more finishing touches required but it is basically done. We had coffee with Beeps this morning before taking a family bike ride. Spring is in the air and we took advantage, staying outside for most of the day playing in the yard.

march 26th - burgie-derby night (375)

Daddy went back to ski barn to drop off the kids’ rented equipment for the summer. Lucy benefitted from the trip with a cool new cap that she was very happy to model for pictures. We went to the Dreby’s house tonight for some beer, pizza, and fun. Lucy took advantage of the dress up materials and somehow got into some lipstick.

march 25th - all smiles (374)

march 24th - hump day (373)

Lucy must have worn five different outfits today. Lots of fun hanging in the playhouse and drawing. Friends today. Enemies tomorrow.

march 23rd - lucy’s seat (372)

Lucy’s new favorite past time is driving around in the truck “my picked out” with the windows down. She is in her glory.

march 22nd - daddy's truck (371)

Daddy and Lucy both had the day off today due to the BMS day of rest....so we went to look at trucks.  Lucy was a big helper at the dealership and was very well behaved while we got all of the paperwork out of the way.  She was very pleased with the truck that she helped to pick out.  A little upset on the color as she wanted "a blue one."  She must have sat in every car in the showroom five times, had three snacks from the vending machine, used the bathroom three times, and came very close to stealing the salesman's gecko.

march 21st - outdoorsy (370)

The weather is breaking and Gemma spent some time sunning herself while reading on her new playhouse deck.  Did some more decorating inside with some of the items that Mommy has been picking up along the way.  Gemma also spent a significant amount of time today getting her fairy garden up and running for the season.

march 20th - a year in the making (369)

After breaking ground almost a year ago during the pandemic, Daddy finally got to siding Gemma's playhouse today and it is on the verge of completion.  She and Mommy did some interior decorating today, and spent a little time checking it out this evening after we got home from dinner.  She is very pleased...Daddy is very relieved (that it is finally done).

march 19th - that time again (368)

Rough job, but someone has to do it.  Mommy had to clean her balls today.

march 18th - frosty (367)

Lucy and her friends made a snowman at school today.  She was very proud when Daddy picked her up that she had put some of the finishing touches on the snowman once it was built.

march 17th - everybody's irish (366)

The day to wear green and celebrate the Irish....Mommy and Daddy also celebrated making it to the vaccination mega site in south jersey for our first COVID vaccination.  All smiles and no side effects in the Burger household today.  Baby step toward getting back some sense of normalcy.
