The adults try to recover while letting the kids pretty much do whatever they want.  Mommy and Aunt Tracey went for a walk around the lake while Daddy and Uncle Todd fashioned a lasso to try and get the blowtorch back from the lake. It took many attempts and tossing a couple ice chunks out there to break it loose, but we were successful. First day of the year and already killing the accomplishments. Mommy spent the evening, after kids were in bed, making Lucy’s Elsa birthday cake. It was tough finding room in the fridge, but it fit like a glove.

It was a great way to end this very strange year. Started drinking early, the kids got to exchange christmas presents, plenty of arts and crafts time, all the boys played laser tag for hours, skipbo, and make-your-own hot chocolates. We had a great kids’ countdown party with glow in the dark balloons, several different bedtimes, and Alex and Kyle swore they would make it to midnight. At some point, the adults had a brilliant idea to send up some lanterns we had from the summer. Every. Single. One. Failed. They may have worked because of how calm it was outside, but somehow Mommy managed to light them all on fire. Right before she dropped the blowtorch onto the icy lake.....which proceeded to slide out about 75 yards from shore. Happy New Year!  I’d love to say good riddance 2020, but it was actually quite a good year for our family. Odd. But good.
