january 31st - friyay with daddy

Mommy went out of town today for some meetings in NYC, but she left behind some special notes and chocolates. Lucy was very upset that she was caught in the act of eating all of her siblings M&Ms. alex got to bring home his bulb that he has been growing at school. He is proud of his green thumb, but agrees with us that the flower on that thing STINKS to high heaven.

january 30th - gemma the writer

Mommy, Daddy, and Lucy went to Gemma’s class today for a reading celebration. Gemma got to read all of her stories that she has written recently to us. She did a really good job and we were very proud. She wrote a story about going to Alex’s basketball game that was particularly detailed. Lucy really got into the reading as well. Lucy adopted a stuffed alligator from the toy shelf and she did NOT want to put it back when we left.

january 29th - tv buddies

Lucy is starting to sit for shows and she has a favorite buddy that she likes to sit with and watch.

january 28th - this is 40

Celebrating Daddy’s milestone today was extra special. We had some fun in the morning with the kids before school. A nice adult lunch at Mediterra with Mommy, the kids helped make 40 balloons with extra special messages on every one, and carrot cupcakes!!!  Mommy even managed to light 40 candles. She burned herself 10 times and we all likely ingested a little wax. Totally worth it!

january 27th - monday sucks

Lucy’s expression captures how we feel about Mondays.  At least we can smile about those boots.

january 26th - laziness

Sundays are for morning cartoons and experimenting with light sabers in the dark.

january 25th - 10, 9, 8, 76ers

Daddy got some Sixers tickets from a friend to see our squad take on the Lakers from a corporate suite tonight. We brought Kyle with us and the three of them walked around like they owned the place. The suite was fully stocked with federal donuts, tons of Philly snacks, and a candy bar. High level of excitement when the make-your-own ice cream sundae cart came around. Typical game day experience. The sixers won and we got to see Lebron James surpass Kobe Bryant on the all-time high scorers’ list.  It was an 8pm start time, so the car was pretty quiet on the way home.

january 24th - celebrating daddy

Daddy’s Burger-Dreby 40th birthday celebration extravaganza in Philadelphia was tonight and it was memorable....only we can’t remember. We picked up Uncle Todd and Aunt Tracey in Newtown and took an Uber to the city. Started out with some heavy drinks at Time before our dinner reservation at Alpen Rose. They welcomed us in, took us through the kitchen where we were served some champagne and showed us to a private table in the cocktail lounge next door. Once we got to the table, it was magic. Best meal in a long time. Mommy agreed, but she didn’t make it to the end. She had to evacuate, but Daddy and Uncle Todd managed to package up dessert, which we ate outside in the street...along with cookies that somehow Mommy procured from Insomnia....just after she molested a dog statue.

january 23rd - shrek

Mommy went out tonight with Aunt Amy and Savannah to build some stuff, so Daddy and Uncle Frank got to hang out with the kids at home. We watched Shrek, at Lucy’s request. Every time Shrek cam on screen she pointed and yelled “daddy, Shrek.”  Every. Single. Time. We turned it into a drinking game.

january 22nd - ssshhhhhh

Alex is working on Daddy’s birthday present and it seems like they all have something up their sleeves. They are all keeping secrets really well.

january 21st - back at it

Short week ahead and people don’t respect the day off for MLK. Daddy had some work to do but it didn’t stop movie time with Gemma and Lucy.

january 20th - mlk day with daddy

Gemma had her annual checkup and is now on the side of pictures of her in a hospital gown are “embarrassing.”  She grew a lot this year, but is still as skinny as a rail.

Height: 45 inches
Weight: 45 lbs

Daddy took the kids for a long walk to the shopping center to get them out of the house on this MLK day off. We got some great pictures with George, the Ace Hardware mascot.  Lucy finally tapped out after a whirlwind of a couple months. She only had half her shirt on for dinner.

january 19th - keeping the party going

Another day, another birthday song and candles for Gemma. Every year it seems like her birthday lasts longer than the year before. More presents this morning she got to open from friends and family and a special present from Mommy and Daddy...her very own keyboard. We also got to try out the new Bagel Nook with Gramps and Grandmum.

january 18th - 🖐🏻☝🏻

Our little Gemma now needs another hand to demonstrate her age. She was very excited that her birthday fell on a Saturday for the first time EVER....even more excited that she got a little snow on her special day. She got the royal treatment this morning, which included a decorated house, birthday pancakes, and PRESENTS!!!

Gemma chose to go to the nail salon and for afternoon tea at the Peacock Inn with Lila and Sienna. They had tons of fun, little sandwiches, tea (hot chocolate), and sweets. After brunch, she got a party with some of her close friends and family at our house. Mommy continued her stellar party-putter-onner abilities with a killer unicorn party, a giant cupcake cake stuffed with sprinkles, adopt-a-unicorn for all the kids, and a make-your-own-cupcake exercise. Glutton for punishment.

Gemma was all smiles. Six. Sassy. Success.
