january 3rd - how to get to sesame street

Mommy is still off from work, but she had quite a day of activity getting ready for Lucy’s 2nd Sesame Street-themed birthday party. Our sassy two-year-old was off to school and very excited that Mommy and Daddy were coming in for a cupcake & ice cream celebration with all of her friends.

january 2nd - back to school

The holiday fun is officially over...at least for the kids who we t back to school. Mommy and Daddy still have some time for relaxation before the impending reality check.

january 1st - last year’s hangover

It was a bit of a rough morning. One of those morning where you know you are not getting out of your hangover so you just have to get back into it. Lucy nestled herself into our bed in the middle of the night, which didn’t really help our sleep situation. Dress up and bagels for the girls before we mustered up enough energy to drive back to Princeton.

december 31st - party time

The year seemed long at times and crappy at other times, but we did our best to send it off with a bang and get ready for a new decade. We got started early in Newtown with the Dreby clan and, surprisingly, all the adults were still standing at midnight...mostly. The kids played and snacked and played some more. The end of a decade called for us to break out the chocolate fountain and prepare for a mess. Good fun, great toasts, on to the next ten years.

december 30th - bakers

Alex and Daddy ran some errands this morning, so the girls spent some quality time baking banana bread. Not sure which one of them liked licking the spoon the most.

december 29th - 🌲 until next year 🌲

A nice brunch this morning at The Meeting House was a great treat and another reason to just keep the holiday eating up. Lucy and Alex got some awesome pancakes...no one was on board with Daddy’s biscuit order and then they all ate my food. Gramps had to order 12 orange juices before he actually got one to himself. The walk home was a lot of fun watching Lucy jog a mile back.

Mommy lost her Christmas tree attachment today and was ready to shove it out the door. This year, we had a systematic approach where Daddy cut off all the branches, Mommy dropped them on the porch, Alex carried them to the firepit, and Gemma swept up....or “broomed it” as she says. A bit more tedious, but it saved us from hearing that awful scraping sound when we push it through the back door.

december 28th - fun continues

Lucy learned photography today. Somehow she thinks she has to bend her knees down when she takes a photo. Alex had a Nike basketball clinic today at the YMCA. Gramps and Grandmum came to Princeton to hang out and have dinner. We all got to pick up Alex at his camp and Lucy was sure to make a splash in her new purple track suit.

december 27th - cousin christmas

All the kids were excited to wake up at our house and have the whole day to play. Mommy made some killer Christmas tree pancakes that were a big hit...mostly.  Kid gift exchange was really cute too. Lucy and Ben opened theirs together and were operating on a buddy system.  Gemma got a super cute scarf and Be. Got to open every individual kickball that Uncle Joel had to pump up by hand. We went for a walk in town, got some pizza, played monopoly the wrong way, and had a pretty relaxing night.

december 26th - the day after

All the presents are open and now we just need to decide which one to play with first. Unfortunately, the thing Alex asked for first (his Lego Phillies stadium) was left behind at Uncle Ryan’s house. Fortunately, we got to go back there this morning to collect it and see his compromised reindeer in the daylight. This afternoon, cousins Ben and Will arrived in town and the kids were excited to go over to Beeps and Grandpa’s house and play. Beeps made a dinner for the record books and we all over indulged...as Beeps over indulged in use of utensils. Lucy sat with all the adults while the rest of the kids watched a movie. Mostly because she was stealing Uncle Mike’s dessert.
