december 22nd - early love (281)

Last night was a little chilly so Daddy let Mommy open an early present...the biggest blanket ever invented. The whole family can get under this thing and is perfect for the lake. Lucy is enjoying it so much, she refused to come out from under it today. Mommy only comes out for the occasional “sink cookie.”

december 21st - SANTA!!!! (280)

Lucy ran some errands with Daddy today to pick up some final Christmas items. She helped pick out some stocking stuffers. She would pull her little mask down so she could get a good sniff of the shampoos before she chose her favorite.

We had an appointment to see Santa at the mall this afternoon and the girls (especially Gemma) got all decked out to make a good impression. Seemed a little like Gemma was over-compensating for some shortfalls in good behavior. Santa was absolutely magnificent. Knew all the kids names by the time we got up to see him and had very sweet, individual conversations with each of the kids. When he asked Lucy what she wanted for Christmas, he asked her to tell Mommy because he may not be able to hear her little voice through her mask. Instead, she pulled her mask down and screamed, “my want a jewelry box, and real jewelry.”  Pretty easy request to interpret:)...Santa’s response, “Dad, you’re in trouble.”

We went out for dinner at Agricola when we got back to Princeton, but not before a perfect photo op. Really great and relaxing dinner...as if the kids thought Santa was still watching. An older woman from a couple tables over actually came by our table on her way out to commend us for having the most well-behaved children she has ever seen. Ha!  Gave us a good laugh.

december 20th - baking day (279)

Slow morning recuperating from last night and watching the kids play with some new toys. Lucy was a day behind on checking Gramps’ temperature, so she decided she should keep him honest on the COVID regulations. Mommy and Lucy made some mint cookies today to get a batch under the belt...although there were not too many left by bedtime.

december 19th - xmas kickoff (278)

Princeton high school was collecting contributions and cash to donate to a charitable organization. The kids got a quick sighting of the big guy and Mrs. Claus from the car as we went by. Mommy got out to take care of our donations, so we got a little extra time and some candy canes straight from the North Pole. We had some fun this afternoon on Mommy’s new bike desk and riding sleds down the ice luge that Daddy constructed on our back porch.

Gramps and Grandmum came into town to get a jumpstart on Christmas and spend the evening watching the kids run around hopped up on holiday joy.  A little baking time with Grandmum was mostly successful with just under 50% of the chocolates eaten before dinner and only one third degree burn. The ski helmets were the hit (at least for the adults).

december 18th - one more day (277)

Quarantine ends tomorrow. It will be like getting out of prison. Lucy is sneaking hand moisturizer, which is probably not a wise idea.

december 17th - real snow arrives (276)

Yesterday’s dusting turned into quite an overnight storm. We must have gotten at least eight inches of snow. Everyone was very excited to get outside until the gloves got wet and the cold set in...Lucy took a little convincing to get back in the action. Mommy had a remote office Christmas party tonight, so the kids helped her get into the festive mood.

december 16th - remote working (275)

We think Mommy may be officially out of crafts. Lucy joined the workforce today and when she got sick of working for the man, she just cut up a piece of paper. Alex and Gemma were super pumped for a lite dusting of snow and strapped on their gear to get outside to play. Highly likely the bottom of the sleds are shredded.
