Gemma had her last day of pre-school ahead of our vacation week. She will be hanging out with Mommy and Daddy until she officially becomes a Kindergartener once we get back from OBX, so it was her big finale. She made special cards for Miss Heather and Miss Helen to say thank you and bye for now. Her friends did not want to let her go at the end of the day...very sweet and we are very proud of our GemGem. Can’t wait to see what is to come this year at CP.
august 15th - al fresco dessert
Mommy needed time to get our OBX packing done, so Daddy and the kids went to the shopping center to get some dessert. There ended up being a concert in the square so we hung out and played for a while. The band was called ‘School of Rock’ which got Alex really excited because he just saw that movie. Ice Cream and beer from McCaffrey’s to keep us all occupied while watching a whole ensemble of you kids play Led Zeppelin covers. Pretty cool.
august 14th - squatter
Lucy is insiting on sitting on the pot every day, which is pretty awesome. She sits for a bit and then says “wheew” and waves her hand near her butt. She gets the general concept.
august 13th - super mom
OBX countdown is on and we only have a few more days before we leave. Operation mommy-pack is in full executional mode. #1 Mom. Everyone just stay the hell out of the way and don’t ask any questions.
august 12th living his best life
Alex on the walk home from camp today with his cookies and cream milkshake that he convinced Mommy to get him...
august 11th - aerial lucy
Lucy tried flying today while we swam in the pool and soaked up some more rays. Gemma was a bit overloaded from the duck race, so she just relaxed. We went back to Jersey and straight to the Schaefers house for more swimming and finishing up our OBX plans.
august 10th - duck race
Back in Millersville for another pool weekend at Gramps and Grandmum’s house. We spent the whole morning at the pool doing canonballs and “grandma-style” jumps off the diving board. This evening, we went to Conestoga for a BBQ and duck race down the creek. We had some entry ducks, but we upped the odds and got some more at the door....still lost. Our damn ducks must have been the ones that got stuck in the waterfall. The kids had fun watching them get dumped into the water and following the leader down to the finish line. Disappointed we didn’t take home the prize but Gemma reminded us “at least we didn’t swim tonight or we would have been in the pool when that kid took a dump in it”....silver lining from the eternal optimist.
august 8th - rainy day
Daddy-Daughters morning to hang out in town and get some lunch at Frutta Bowl (Gemma’s choice). Lucy was along for the ride today and pulled her weight on the açai bowl consumption. They even helped shop at the Italian Market for supplies needed for Daddy to make sauce with all of our garden tomatoes.
Mommy and Daddy went to NYC tonight for a Guster show at Central Park’s summerstage. We last saw them there almost 19 years ago to the day and we were very excited. After just 4 songs, paying $198 for Mommy to take a pee, a handful of drinks, and almost getting struck by lightning, the show was evacuated. Within 5 seconds of rain, we were soaked all the way through. Walked all the way back to Penn Station from 72nd street. Mommy got a huge sweatshirt for warmth in Times Square. Hopefully, make-up show in November will mend our broken hearts and reverse the frostbite.
august 7th - so close
Lucy is starting to show stronger signs of sitting still and engaging in kids movies. She usually enjoys movies that have lots of music the most. As soon as we can get her to fall into the trance of the travel iPad, we can start leaving town more often on airplanes.
august 6th - community night
The kids had an awesome time tonight at the pool for National Community Night Out. Princeton does a good job of welcoming everyone in with the police grilling free food and tons of volunteers giving out free stuff for kids. Lucy had to be swayed to go under the fire truck water fall, but Alex and Gemma did canonballs directly into the pool. We brought some Conte’s pizza across the street and made ourselves right at home.
august 5th - little bakers 🍑
Gemma helped Mommy slice and “plop” in tons of peaches for a peach cobbler. Lucy helped watch it in the oven and eat the results.
august 4th - lazy sunday
Recovery sunday at the pool taking a dip. Swimming skills have come a long way this year. Lucy is now getting a kick out of reading books. Especially at the dinner table so she has entertainment.
august 3rd - jackie time
Daddy went to a Yankees-Red Sox game today with friends in the city, so the kids went for a playdate in South Jersey to hangout with Jackie, Emily, and Jaime. Lucy made brownies for the occasion. She only inhaled 15% of the mix into her respiratory tract...just below the legal limit.
august 2nd - farm fun
Another Shady Brook night for fun and debauchery and helping to raise each other’s kids. Gemma brought her purse with her essentials, Lucy still has a crush on the turkeys, and Alex ran the soles off his shoes. We left a little earlier tonight but still past everyone’s bedtimes...even the adults.
