may 25th - pick one, eat two

It’s that time for strawberry picking and Mommy put us on a mission to get enough berries to make jelly to last us through the winter. Alex and Gemma did a great job picking...Lucy was a bit counterproductive since she ate everything she got her hands on in the field. Uncle Frank and Aunt Amy’s crew joined us for picking and some lunch afterward.

Mommy and Daddy celebrated Mommy’s birthday with the Drebys in Princeton tonight. Lots of drinks at A&B and dinner at Mistral. Somehow in addition to Mommy’s birthday, we realized it has been 15 years of hanging out and killing brain cells with these two.

may 24th - temporary big girl

Mommy left the house with Lucy’s carseat, so she was ecstatic that she got promoted for the ride to school this morning. Daddy had to pull the belt all the way out to lock her down because she thought it was playtime. Gemma got picked up early for Daddy-Daughter lunch in town. She had firmly decided she wanted Tacoria, but called a last minute audible to go for açaí bowls.

may 23rd - daddy time

Mommy had girls night at our house, which meant 17 women in our house. Daddy and the kids had to get the hell outta there. Nomad night for some pizzer...gemma did not like the dessert specials, but made an exception when it came to ordering. Lucy ate 3 slices of pizza and kept it going with some sweets.

may 22nd - celebrating mommy

Today, we celebrated the best mommy in the world turning 38 whopping years old. Alex and Gemma were very excited to give Mommy her cards and some presents this morning before heading to school. Lucy was excited....for Lucky Charms.  Gemma helped pick out all of Mommy’s presents all by herself. She was most excited about matching rings that she got. One for Mommy and one for herself so they could be twins:). Uncle Boogs, Aunt Amy, and Beeps came over to help celebrate and have dinner, Kelly cake, and relax by the fire with some drinks.

may 21st - pit stop

Daddy picked up the girls a little early today so we could shop and pick up Mommy’s birthday presents. It is impossible to get out of Palmer’s Square without hitting Bent Spoon when GemGem is with you.

may 20th - alex’s crew

Baseball Monday and Alex has the biggest cheering section. It is tough to see everything with Lucy on the move around the field and she. Does. Not. Stop.

may 19th - lucy baby

Lucy rockin’ her shades and carrying around her hot dog on her ride around town. If she gets any cuter, she may explode.

may 18th - planting continued

Mommy was up at first light to continue planting more flowers around the yard. Daddy made breakfast for the kids and we ate outdoors on a crisp morning. Beeps brought some donuts, which were a bit more desired than Daddy’s fruit. The girls were big helpers with planting, although Lucy just wanted to manage the shovel.

may 17th - planting day

It is that time of year when Mommy and Beeps hit the stores and spend the day making our yard look amazing. Tons of flowers and somehow even more pots this year, so it is going to be a multi-day extravaganza.

Gemma got a soecial package in the mail today...her first ‘Stitch-Fix for Kids’....very excited to see what was picked for her and to try on some new gear.

may 16th - businessman’s special

Alex got a special surprise of being picked up early from school to go to watch the Phillies game with Daddy. He was really excited (and appreciatve) that he was going down to Philly. It was a little chilly in our seats and Alex convinced Daddy he needed a sweatshirt...however, he manipulated his way into a Phillies throwback jersey...just like the players were wearing today. He also decided that the hat he had on didn’t match his jersey, so he needed the throwback hat. First businessman’s special, first successful negotiation.

may 15th - ❤️’ing lucy

Alex and Gemma vying for Lucy’s attention on a regular basis. She is just too damn cute to leave alone.

may 14th - seat with a view

Lucy’s new favorite place to sit and pose for pictures is our giant window on the way up the stairs. When the blinds are open, she insists on sitting down on the window sill and getting a picture.

may 13th - 1st micky D’s

Last day in Chicago and the sun has finally decided to come out. We had just enough time to walk over to Little Goat Diner and have an awesome breakfast. The kids loved all of the garden decorations they had outside and could not keep their hands off. Lucy got an extra tall highchair to sit at the table and the warm cinnamon role was a hot item.

We had a quick stroll through Millenium Park to enjoy the sun before packing up and heading to the airport. While we waited for our flight, the kids got a bit hungry. They both refused McDonalds because “McDonalds sucks”...they have NEVER had McDonalds. However, Daddy got Lucy some fries and Mommy some nuggets. Gemma had a taste and immediately called her broker to buy stock in McDonalds. She even convinced her brother through a strong word-of-mouth recommendation and they were both elbow deep in BBQ sauce. Our flight home was magical and we had family cereal for dinner when we got home.
