Friday fun with the Stewarts and Schaefers tonight at a Hibachi joint. The kids had a great time and were really entertained by the chef. Gemma and Addison loved seeing each other and didn’t stop giggling all night. After dinner, we went bowling and kept it rolling. Daddy was the champion and beat Logan by one pin. Lucy helped Daddy but mostly just ate snacks.
march 21st - this guy
Mommy and Daddy went to Alex’s parent-teacher conference today. We got to see his most recent work, which included a ‘how-to’ book titled “how to play rummy”....and his most recent passion, his research on the solar system. He is doing very well in all subjects and his teacher recognized him for being an outstanding person. He is “such a pleasure to have in the class.” Such a good boy. Wait until they meet Gemma.
march 20th - where’s your boss?
This morning when Gemma got up to go to the bathroom, Lucy switched sides of the table so she could get into Gemma’s bowl that had marshmallows. We are not at all concerned about her development.
Went to Nomad tonight and Gemma questioned the waiter as to the whereabouts of “the big dipper” and why it is no longer on the menu. The waiter sent the owner over who was actually on site tonight and she demanded answers. The owner went and made her one and brought it over free of charge. Gemma is very pleased with herself:). Alex and Lucy were also pleased.
march 19th - the gun show
Lucy had the pipes out today and it is now evident that she knows she is cute.
march 18th - monkey lucy
Lucy now does “a monkey”...she puts her fists in her pits and makes a grunting noise. Pretty special to witness while she’s shoving food in her face.
march 17th - holy shit
Officially St. Patty’s Day but Mommy is over it, so she and Gemma began decorating for Easter. They had a busy morning and everybody took some good naps. Mommy’s nap got interrupted when Daddy had to call in reinforcements.
Lucy was stirring so Daddy went up to bring her downstairs. Upon opening the door, the smell hit me in the face and damn near caused an instant vomit reaction. Lucy’s diaper was overflowing with some chocolate sherbert and she was playing with it. In her hands, in her hair, all over her crib...worst goddamn blowout since Alex’s Rome blowout of 2013. I can still smell it three weeks later. Even Lucy had a concerned look on her face. Truly a magical experience.
march 16th - nails and wheels
Gemma got all dressed up today and put on some makeup to go with Mommy to the nail salon. She was very excited to go for a girls afternoon...with girls snacks. We went to Evan CastaƱeda’s birthday party in South Jersey at a place that was like heaven for kids. Climbers, games, all you can eat snacks, and a roller rink. Alex decided he does not like roller skating. Gemma LOVED it until she took a digger. Lucy had everyone wrapped around her finger...including Rio who bought her a froggy stuffed animal almost immediately. It is now her best friend. She also found a nice spot in the corner after we told her to sit down and drink her bottle. Looked like a little homeless kid.
march 15th - time to be irish
Friday St. Patty’s Day celebration at school and the kids are feeling festive. Mommy’s green pancakes helped them get into the spirit and we made each of them drink a beer at breakfast. Lucy is feeling it.
march 14th - outdoors
It’s getting a little warmer each day and the kids are loving the fresh air. Alex would stay outside and play basketball until midnight if we let him. Lucy loves chasing the balls. She has not quite figured out the procedure for changing surfaces. The grass may as well be lava based on how tentative she is walking off the driveway.
march 13th - take off my what?
Mommy went in for outpatient surgery today, which slightly misaligned with her expectations. She kind of figured it would be like having a mole removed. Classic case of texting and sending work emails while the doctor is explaining the technical details of the procedure during your pre-op appointment. Mommy thought they had the wrong chart when the nurse brought her into pre-op and told her to take all her clothes off. “But it’s on my wrist!?!?”
A couple hours later and Daddy was able to see her in the PACU. “How did this happen?”....drugs. Good thing there is plenty of cuteness at home to make Mommy feel better about her bum-hand.
march 12th - coffee date
Daddy and GemGem hitting Small World for our weekly coffee date, which is now a triad since Lucy is along for the ride. Cinnamon muffin today that was a fan favorite. Lucy cleaned up the scraps that Gemma didn’t get to because she was so full...two breakfasts will do that to you.
march 11th - something in my teeth?
Lucy burned some serious calories trying to gum the bagels enough to get them in her belly. Some fun pajama day pictures from the ultimately comfortable day at school.
march 10th - fueling the economy
The weather was a bit crappy today, so we had to find some activity for the kids to get out and burn some energy. Mommy decided the activity was to go to Market Fair and buy a new couch. Daddy had coffee and watched the kids run around the mall playing tag, while Mommy took the credit card and picked out whatever her little heart desired. Fun family games at home and Gemma figured out how to fly.
