The Dreby clan came to Princeton today to make us dinner. All the kids were excited to have Lucy all to themselves since the first couple times they saw her she was asleep. Alex and Kyle played sports. Gemma and Lila played princess. Hailey and Lucy slept. Sienna wandered. The adults drank.
february 22nd - chatty kathy
Gemma has been having really great days at school lately. Her teachers love her personality and we always hear funny stories when we go to pick her up at the end of the day.
february 21st - warmth
Lots of smiles today due to the 60° spring weather outside. Mommy picked up Alex from school and they played at the playground for hours. He even had enough energy when he got home to ask Daddy to go for a run. He only made it one mile, but not too bad for a five year old. Lucy got to go to the park and get her toes out in the sunshine.

february 20th - hump day
Feels like spring and Alex came home immediately to changes into shorts and a tshirt so he could go play at the track.

february 19th - big scoops
Our little fishes started swimming lessons today. They were both really excited to get into the pool...not so excited to get out. Gemma was hilarious. The teacher would ask the group a question and she would respond, then tell a story. With all of her talking, they barely got any swimming done.
february 18th - we finally eat
Alex and Gemma stayed at Beeps and Grandpa’s with Ben and William, so we had an early morning of all the kids up eating Easter bread and running around. We took them to a new kids gym in Princeton for them to burn off some energy...the adults also got involved. We had to run round two of the dinner we never got to last night before the Rhode Island crew got on the road home.
february 17th - are we eating?
Alex and Gemma got in a little morning exercise with Mommy, while Daddy was in baby prison with Lucy watching her sleep. Once she passes out on you, you better clear your calendar. Cousins Ben and William came down from Rhode Island today, so we all congregated at Beeps and Grandpa’s house for a night of fun and dinner. For some reason, the dinner never came. We all remember a shrimp or two and possibly crackers. There was a pretty good snow storm that hit while we were there, which made for an interesting ride home.
february 16th - boys day out
Alex and Daddy had an awesome day of hanging out together...just the boys. We went down to Philly to a Marvel super hero show at the Wells Fargo Center. On the way down we stopped for new sneakers, which he wore out of the store. Alex wastes no time converting and his old sneakers hold little sentimental value. We had lunch and gelato, went to Drew’s office for beers and a game of chess, got a Sixers jersey in the city, dinner at Hawthornes at Alex’s request, took a whiz outside, and LOVED the show. Great man day.
february 15th - 100 days
Alex has been preparing and counting down for his 100th day of school celebration since about 99 days ago. They did all kinds of counting activities to bring it home now that it is finally here. Most importantly, his class had a goal to collect 100 food items to donate to local kids in need. They have a field trip coming up to deliver the items collected. Alex was very proud to bring in food and help meet the goal. He gave Daddy a list to go shopping an get everything.
During his celebration he got to take a picture and see what he will look like when he is 100 years old. Hilarious...but thinking of my little buddy as an old man makes me want to cry.
february 14th - ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It is the day of love and it was a pretty fantastic Wednesday. Daddy got a present from his favorite valentine, GemGem. She got Daddy a pair of socks with hearts on them to “wear to your office.” After we dropped Alex off at school, we had a Daddy-Daughter trip to the Small World before school for a special coffee date. Both of the kids were really excited to have their Valentine parties and give out their cards. Even more excited to open the cards they received when they got home.
Daddy blew off the day and got to take out some other special ladies for lunch at the Grill. All the waitresses were buzzing with gossip about Lucy and how cute the baby at table 25 was...they all came by for a peek. Daddy and the kids stopped on the way home from school to pick out flowers for Mommy. Alex wanted tulips and Gemma wanted roses. Daddy paid a large bill.
february 13th - grandmom night
Grandmom Burger came to Princeton for a visit with the kids, some dinner, and some valentines cookies. Alex challenged her to a game of just about everything and was obviously worn out by the end of the night. Sleeping in your bed sideways is usually a strong indication of exhaustion.
february 12th - open mindedness
Mommy had a dentist appointment tonight so it was fun time at home with Daddy. We played some football in the basement and Gemma fixed us all tea. She spent the better part of an hour getting everything together and then announced “let the tea party begin.” Daddy had a meeting with the BMS team from Japan today, so the kids got to try some chocolate and green tea KitKats. They were green, but did not last long.
february 11th - vacay prep
Uncle Frank and Aunt Amy came over this morning for breakfast and a little Disney preparation. As Donald Trump says about solving healthcare, who knew this was going to be so complex.
february 10th - where everybody knows your name
We spent a little time bribing the kids with m&m’s this morning so we could get a few Valentine’s Day shots. Believe it or not, Lucy was the most cooperative. Had dinner at Hawthornes with Jackie, Fred, and Emily as one last celebration of Gemma’s birthday. The kids had a good time and for Daddy and Alex, Hawthornes twice in one week!
february 9th - weekeeeeeeend
If you do not want your week to feel like the longest week ever, do not drink 10 beers on Sunday night. We had a great week filled with pride and it is finally over. TGIF. A note to the people who scheduled a day full of meetings on a Friday...you suck! Big buttholes. Daddy made it through and we celebrated with Nomad night. Gemma ordered the big dipper and was amped up. Her trip to the potty to wash the chocolate off her hands resulted in this spectacle.
february 8th - let’s party
After a week flying high from the Super Bowl victory, we finally got to celebrate at the Eagles parade. Alex and Daddy woke up early to get down into the city with our friends....and a couple million fired up birds fans. Alex was a trooper braving the cold and putting in some miles on foot. We got to see the parade from the parkway, which was absolutely crazy. It was definitely a celebration for the ages since we have waited so long. Have never seen so many grown men in tears. Alex was so excited to come home and tell Mommy he saw “the Lombardi Trophy!”
Mommy and Lucy watched the parade from the warm living room. Gemma and her friends looked for Daddy and Alex on the internet. “Everyone look for my Daddy’s brown and gray beard. We may not see my brutter Alex because he is too little.”
february 6th - acts of kindness
Alex has been doing very nice things at home this week for recognition at school. We are starting to love this assignment and trying to figure out how to keep it going indefinitely. GemGem helped Mommy make soup today and her meatballs are very easily identifiable. Big ones jack. Huge.
february 5th - best monday ever
Holy hangover! What a night, what a game, holy sh!t. The Eagles won the Super Bowl. We all had to be robots this morning to get up and out of the house for school. Daddy got the kids to school, but work...not so much. Watched game highlights all day. Alex was so proud to go to school.
february 4th - 🦅 fly eagles fly 🦅
THE EAGLES ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS...THE LOMBARDI TROPHY IS COMING TO PHILADELPHIA!!!! We got amped up before the game and spent the night watching with the Dreby’s in Newtown. It’s been 10 years since we watched the Philly’s win the World Series together, so we were hoping for some good juju being together for Super Bowl LII. After waiting for 52 years, the city of Philadelphia finally has its first Super Bowl victory.
Alex and Kyle...spoiled brats got a Lombardi after only waiting 5 years...got to watch the game and celebrate together. It was an absolutely insane, anxiety filled night. Good thing for the booze and shots at every score to take the edge off.
Eagles 41, Patriots 33. MVP Nicky Foles was magnificent and our defense was even better. Fancy trick plays, great running game, and a key strip sack from Brandon Graham. Everyone was against the Birds, but they came out on top against the GOAT. Eat it Tom. Suck it Belichick. Pound it Collinsworth.
february 3rd - friendly competition
Beeps threw a pre-super bowl pep rally party for the kids tonight at her house. Alex didn’t like the fair balance of patriots representation. Gemma had a party close by so she and daddy swung by for a little bouncing. We stole a couple patriots napkins to send Uncle Mike a supportive picture.
february 2nd - sweet treats
Lucy is just about one month old and pumped for the Eagles super bowl. Almost as pumped as big brother Alex who got an eagles cupcake from Philadelphia.
february 1st - lucy sees philadelphia
Mommy took Lucy down to our old neighborhood to visit Mickey and have lunch at Morning Glory. We are all jealous. Lucy even got to meet Rufus and go to Isgro Bakery. Thankfully, they brought us home some Eagles cupcakes.
january 31st - geared up
Even Gemma got in on the Eagles fever that Alex has for the Super Bowl. He has been wearing Eagles gear every day to school to support the birds. He is even coming home and telling me about arguments he is having with Patriots fans. “I just tell them the patriots suck.”
january 28th - daddy’s old
Daddy was woken up by three warm little bodies this morning, which was a perfect start to the day. The kids were so excited to wake up and open presents. Alex got Daddy tickets to a superhero show in Philly. Gemma got him a new lego coffee mug that “daddy has to take to work and use in meetings.” Mommy got sixers tickets for Alex and Daddy to go to a game...complete with some gear to wear.
We all went to Cargot for brunch and Uncle Frank came to meet us. After brunch, Daddy and Alex went to see a Princeton University basketball game. Mommy cooked, we all got gas. Awesome day.
