And just like that, three weeks have come and gone. Lucy is getting big. And then there is Gemma, class-ing it up with a bedtime crotch grab.
january 25th - personal goals
Mommy picked Alex up today and got to see his classmates’ new year resolution board. Alex ‘s resolution is to “help with the baby.” This was before he knew it would be a Lucy:)
january 24th - lucy time
Mommy is knocking out organization at home and getting some great cuddle time.
january 23rd - ready, set, go
We had a break in the cold weather today so we had a walk to pick up Alex at school.he was very excited to see all of us and Alex and Daddy raced all the way home.
january 22nd - back to the grind...not mommy
Mommy gets to stay home and hang out with Lucy. We are all jealous.
january 21st - super bowl bound
Mommy threw an awesome brunch birthday party for Daddy and Gemma today. We had great food and a cake with Daddy and GemGem’s picture on it! Lucy got to meet some cousins, Alex played chess against his uncles, and then the whole family took a nap. All five of us passed out on the same couch. We woke up in time for the Eagles game and Daddy got a big present. NFC Champions! We are going to the Super Bowl. Nicky Foles came up huge and we smoked the Minnesota Vikings 38-7.
january 20th - creative creations
We got the kids out of the house today and went to the craft store for a ‘kids creation’ session. Alex and Gemma both got to make snowflakes and Mommy and Daddy got to go to the grocery store afterward to check it off our list. Lucy got her first piece of mail from social security office. Now she can get a credit card.
january 19th - are we sure she’s only four?
Gemma had a special Friday at home with Mommy, Daddy, and Lucy. We had to go shopping for her and Daddy’s birthday brunch so she got to tag along and be a big helper. She was amazed at the raspberry selection at Costco...her favorite. “I didn’t know you could buy this many raspberries, yum.” She and Daddy got some good fixins at Wegmans for prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and avocado sandwiches to devour. Definitely our kid.
In the afternoon, Daddy took Gemma for her four year checkup. In the waiting room, Daddy made Gemma do all the things that were on the four year development questionnaire...balance on one foot, hop on one foot, name four colors, etc....hilarious looks from others. GemGem also had to get two shots and didn’t even flinch. On the way to our car she said, “I didn’t even cry, if Alex had to get two shots he would have cried like a little baby.” True. She got a donut.
34 pounds (50%)

january 18th - four never looked so good
Our princess GemGem is officially four years old. She is a magical little girl with a complex personality. Can’t wait to see if we all make it to 5. Mommy knocked it out of the park with an awesome butterfly cake. We did birthday candles in pancakes, sang happy birthday four times, presents, streamers and balloons...all before 8am. Mommy, Daddy, and Alex went into Gemma’s school for special birthday cupcakes and a craft in the afternoon. Lucy got to meet everyone at her future pre-school; including Gemma’s classmates, who were mesmerized.
Gemma requested dinner at Nomad for her favorite pizza because “pizza star delivery sucks.” Beeps and Grandpa came out to celebrate and then we cut off the butterfly’s delicious wings at our house. Successful start to Gemma’s many upcoming celebrations.
january 17th - jordy bunch
Lucy had a busy day today. Aunt Linda, Aunt Dot, and Grandmom Burger came over to meet Lucy and drink some tea. They were very big admirers. Gramps and Grandmum also stopped by for a hug on their way to the airport.
january 16th - maturity
Alex is a very proud big brother and Gemma is going on 35 with her furry sleeves and dining on flank steak with avocado mashed potatoes with glazed carrots.
january 14th - sunday funday
A visit today from Uncle Frank, Aunt Amy, Savannah, and Garrett. Daddy and uncle frank did some fireplace installation and we watched a day full of playoff football. Lots of pictures taken of the kids. Alex and Gemma were promised toys if they were good, so Daddy took them to Target to make good. Gemma got a doll that Alex says “is kind of creepy.” Alex AND daddy got some new nerf guns...basement war!
january 13th - e-a-g-l-e-s
Relentless Saturday full of activity. Daddy got to see Alex play some basketball this morning while Mommy and Gemma worked on party planning. Daddy and Gemma had a daddy-daughter afternoon in Hopewell to attend her friend Seraphina’s birthday party...with an obligatory stop at the brick farm market for coffee and a chocolate chip scone. The kids managed to get in a 15 minute nap before the Angeluccis came over for Eagles football and Lucy time. Alex was so pumped for the game that he put on an entire pack of eagles tattoos. His commitment to the team panned out and the Eagles won 15-10 over the Falcons. Next stop NFC championship.
january 12th - higgins time
Jackie, Fred, and Emily came to Princeton today for a visit to meet Lucy. The kids were really excited to see Jackie and Gemma was excited to see Fred’s “silly beard.” They brought us pizza from Conte’s and we had lots of fun catching up.
january 11th - proud parents
GemGem got to go with Mommy, Daddy, and Lucy to the party store and pick out all the supplies for her birthday festivities. She was very excited and super helpful at the store. She told all of her friends when she got to school why she was late. Lucy got her first bath at home and Alex and Gemma got to help.
We also got an email from Alex’s spanish teacher today. Apparently, Alex has been hustling everyone at school on the Connect4 circuit. He impressed his teachers so much that he was recruited to join the chess club.
january 10th - settling in
Uncle Boogs and Aunt Amy came by today to meet Lucy. They were impressed to say the least. Bathtime without Mommy’s supervision is a lot of fun. We have been making a wave pool and capitalizing on accessories. Alex drew a picture of the whole family today at school, which made Mommy cry. She framed it immediately. He is such a thoughtful little boy.
january 9th - making headlines
So cute I want to squeeze her face. Gemma’s school put up an announcement to tell everyone that Lucy has arrived. She is a very proud big sister...she has been telling all of her friends about “her baby.”
january 8th - sistaz
Alex and Gemma are back to school. After the holiday off and two snow days last week, they were itching to see their friends. Daddy is home all week, which means early pick up:). Gemma was still asleep when Daddy went to her classroom. Beeps must have been a little liberal on the bedtimes this weekend! Uncle Ryan and Aunt Erin came to meet Lucy today...they brought amzing bagels for our house arrest sentence.
january 7th - welcome home lucy
Last day in the hospital and we got to take little Lucy home. Aunt Tracey came by the hospital this morning for a quick peek of Lucy. On the right, is Kyle’s reaction when he was told that he would not be meeting Lucy. Poor guy. Cousins Ben and Will made Lucy a sign and Big Brother Alex made Lucy a Welcome Home sign...it is so awesome that we just had it framed for Lucy’s bedroom. Amazing to be home!!!
january 6th - day 2 on earth
Gramps and Grandmum and Uncle Gary came to Princeton today to meet Lucy. Uncle Gary forgot coffee for Mommy but he has been forgiven. Lucy slept most of the day away but she is also forgiven. Alex and Gemma made it to the hospital for a surprise visit too, however, we believe it was primarily due to 3pm ice cream time. Gemma was such a sweetheart to the ice cream lady, so she got WHATEVER she asked for...chocolate sauce, whipped cream...anything. Mommy is back on food so we put down some of Beeps’ leftover meatloaf that Alex brought to Mommy and Daddy. Awesome. An upgrade from hospital food. Mommy can already feel the bowels operating.
Alex had his first day of basketball this morning so Beeps and Grandpa took him to the YMCA. He loved it and is already a defensive presence...just like JoJo Embiid.
