june 28th - patio time

We now have our patio marked off and work is going to start after the holiday weekend. Exciting. This picture of Alex popped up on facebook today. Classic.

june 27th - excited for school

Back to school day after an extended weekend was a lot of fun since they missed their friends. Nomad night!

june 26th - best monday ever

We extended the weekend and did a Monday pool day since we are all playing hooky from work and school. A little windy early in the day so Alex and Gemma took shelter.

june 25th - happy birthday luke

Early morning to get on the road back so Gemma and Alex wanted to leave notes for Ben to say bye bye and thanks for letting them play with his toys. We made it back in time to go to Luke's 1st birthday celebration. Bouncy house !!...including a late night adult open bounce hour.

june 24th - go gemma, go gemma

Beautiful Saturday morning in East Greenwich turned very quickly into a rainy mess but we still had fun hanging inside and watching the kids play. The sun finally came out in time for our trip to Chelo's for dinner and dancing. Gemma was tearing it up.

june 23rd - rhode island living

We arrived at around 11pm last night and The kids had to have a quick play with all Ben's toys. We hit the farmer's market in the morning to get supplies for dinner and then headed to the beach for a quick visit. Dinner and lots of wine at Uncle Mike and Aunt Amy's house.

june 22nd - closing out the week

Gemma had a fun day of water play and got really tired out for our ride to Rhode Island tonight. Both of the kids are really excited to see their cousins...Gemma wants to see their toys too:).

june 21st - summer

We kicked off the official start of summer with a BBQ at Beeps and Grandpa's house tonight. It was raining pretty badly until the sub decided to come out in time to eat outside. The kids filled up on appetizers and cheese, we watched the sunset, and Gemma ate ribs.

Finally, banana cream pie.

june 20th - free

We got our garage back today since we had the VA come and pick up all of our remaining yard sale inventory. Alex celebrated with some track and field activities.

Alex drew this picture today and was really proud. "Our new family."

june 19th - dragonfly dreamers

Gemma's turn for an end of year classroom celebration. She walked in with one of her friends and giggled the entire time. Songs and ice cream while watching a slideshow of the year. Gemma sat and ate her ice cream and yelled out every kids name as the slides advanced. It was hilarious.

june 18th - daddy day

Awesome father's day started watching Alex and Gemma snuggle together for morning cartoons. Amazing. Mommy made a great breakfast and Gemma stole Mommy' avocado toast. We spent the day at the pool playing ball and searching for sharks. Uncle Frank made dinner at his house for all the Burger dads.

Alex and Daddy also got in a morning workout. Amazing day!

june 17th - cars 3

'Cars 3' finally arrived in theaters today and we bought our tickets last week to go see Lightning McQueen's latest adventure. Drew came along for the movie and the kids had lots of fun.

Gemma finally hit her banana split milestone so we all had a very special treat after dinner.

june 16th - jazam's block party

Palmer Square block part tonight sponsored by the toy store, so lots of fun kids' activities. We had dinner on the patio at the taproom and then made our way through all of the 'stuff.'  They made flowers and rainbows with colored sand, got bracelets, colored stick figures, and made a cup-and-cork. Lots of fun until Alex and Gemma made Daddy run home a mile so they could "go super super fast" in the stroller. We almost beat mommy home but she had an unfair advantage....a volvo xc90.

june 15th - personal growth

The year is about wrapped up and it is crazy to see how much Alex has grown. He still had his chubby little baby cheeks when the year started and now he is taller and seasoned:). Can't believe our sweet little Alex is growing up and picking up bad habits from hoodlums at school. Kindergarten in September is going a fun adventure.

june 14th - pool day

june 13th - in bloom

Gemma and Alex's flower in the backyard has finally bloomed and they were really excited. Gemma said, "dad go get the camera and take a picture right now!"

june 12th - community park day

Big Al had his kindergarten orientation today at his new school. It was mostly an opportunity for Mommy and Daddy to go in, meet the principal, meet teachers, and hear about everything the school has to offer. Impressed. Alex did great and even got to go out on the playground with some new friends. He was very excited because he goes there a lot and was very comfortable.

After school, we had our very first trip to Community Park Pool. Got our IDs that they stressed are lifetime badges. The pool is amazing. Kiddie pool with fountains, olympic sized swimming pool, and a diving pool. We will be spending LOTS of time there this summer.

june 11th - double birthday bash

We celebrated Farrah and Ashlyn's birthdays today at the Y pavilion. Got to take a dip in the pool and get mild hypothermia, but it was worth it since it was 95°+. The kids had a great time playing on the playground, as you can tell by Gemma's immediate mouth open nap on the ride home. They got sidewalk chalk as a party favor so Alex decorated the neighborhood.

june 10th - everything must go

The big day for our epic yard sale. We strategically posted signs all over town and initiated a small scale social campaign. Beeps and Aunt Amy helped out with the sale and the kids. We got lots of traffic coming through, some people even coming back 2-3 times. Jackie even came from Delaware...mostly to borrow tools. Sold tons of stuff and all the big ticket items were gone. Already scheduled for the VA to come pick up the remaining boxes. Feel lighter already.

Alex had baseball today and his end of season celebration. All the kids got team plaques with a team picture...he loves it.

june 9th - summer hours

It's beginning to feel a lot like summer and Daddy is now on summer hours at work. Picked up the kids early for lunch at Nomad and beignets at Dolceria. After nap, Daddy took the kids to Scudder Plaza so they could play in the Fountain of Freedom. It is a very peaceful place to sit and watch the kids play. We will be spending lots of time there this summer.

june 8th - violent visit

We are working on Gemma and her finger obsession. She is trying really hard to fold her hands in her lap instead of shoving them in her mouth. She has a variety of different incentive programs ongoing, with a performance review pending. Gramps and Grandmum came to Princeton tonight for a visit, dinner, and a barrage of nerf darts.

june 7th - alex the graduate

Our big boy is now a graduate of pre-school and he could not be prouder of his accomplishment. We are also very proud of how well he did today. The kids all walked into the classroom and read 'Pete the Cat with His Four Groovy Buttons.'  Alex was a little shy but was saying every last word. After he received his diploma he gave a little turn and wave to Mommy and Daddy in the audience. Awesome!  Once or twice Gemma came up to the window of the classroom and pressed her face against it to peek in...her class was on the playground. Also awesome!

june 6th - school buds

Alex and his buddies are always connected. His best buddy, Caleb, is hilarious and they are always glued together.

june 5th - cozy monday

june 4th - a day on the farm

We went strawberry picking at Johnson's Farm today and had an awesome time. This farm is a newer farm that is very low key. They had live music and we just hung out having beers and eating some lunch after picking. Gemma and Alex ate more than they picked so they were not so hungry. It was a great day with some sunshine...finally. Shortcake for dinner!

june 3rd - another sucky saturday

Another rainy Saturday and baseball is cancelled AGAIN!  Alex has really gotten the shaft this year on baseball. Especially since it meant we had to run errands all over town with Mommy. We still had fun and by the time we were done, the sun was out.

Also, Alex has been putting all of his clothes on backwards lately...more easily spotted with a v-neck.

june 2nd - it's friday!

Great Friday in Princeton. Weather was amazing. Gemma kicked it off with her typical feast of cereal, watermelon, blueberry muffin, mango, and a strawberry-banana smoothie. The kids school had an Alex's Lemonade Stand fundraiser. Daddy asked Alex if he donated money, and he said "yeah, your money."

Had a post-dinner stroll in town since the weather was amazing. Hit the park, Alex had to pee in a parking lot, Thomas' for ice cream and music. Gemma made it about one block home and then "Daddy, can you carra me?"  She was a chatter box and then she was out cold. We literally rolled her right into bed when we got home.

june 1st - it's june?

We went to a Trenton Thunder game tonight with all of our friends. Alex had a great time running around with Drew. Gemma was there for the ballpark snacks. They have a kid playground at the game, so it was a big hit. Who won the game?...who knows...

may 31st - boogs

Daddy and Uncle Frank had to move lots of stuff today. Tons of things at Uncle Franks and then cleared out Beeps' house of all our atuff that Mommy is prepping for an epic yard sale. A morning of moving turned into an afternoon of drinking at The Grill. Uncle Frank unknowingly became a dinner guest after he woke up from his cat nap. Then, he took Daddy and Alex out for gelato. Gemma was feeling a little under the weather so we brought back some gelato to go.

may 30th - back to the grind

Back to school after the long weekend and the kids were excited. Alex really missed his main squeeze, Ella, so he drew her a picture. He took it in to school and placed it in her cubby. Very proud.

may 29th - rainy memorial day

We woke up to terrible weather on our last day of the three-day weekend. The kids decided they would brighten up their morning with a request for chocolate chip pancakes at PJ's. Ran errands at Target and Wegman's to get some food in our house. We built legos and had some steak on the grill. Both Alex and Gemma did such a great job eating their dinner that they got to choose dessert. Ice Cream "Swimmiches."
