Gemma is loving her Peppa Pig vehicles and even set up a little camping trip. When the rain came she used the van canopy to "keep everyone safe." We had a big family dance party after bathtime. Gemma demands attention for her ballet performance.
january 25th - self confidence
Alex is loving his school and has really opened up in the last couple weeks. He is dancing, singing and making sound effects. Hilarious.
january 24th - granny gemma
Gemma received a birthday package from Uncle Mike, Aunt Amy, Ben, and William today. She got accessories for her baby doll. However, Gemma has taken ownership of the eyeglasses, which are now what she wears when she is "doing work."
january 23rd - our little dragonfly
Gemma is barely three for a few days and everyone is already forcing her to grow up. She is officially in pre-school as the latest addition to the dragonfly classroom. Miss Victoria dropped her down in her new classroom during her transition week and she did great. Stayed the whole day, ate lunch, had a nap, and gym class...all with her new buddies. So proud.
january 22nd - recovery
Kids up until 10:30 = lots of pajama time on the couch to get the whole family back to sea level.
january 21st - gemma pig's big day
Gemma had her very first ballet class this morning and she did an amazing job. She was so excited to put on her new gear and go dance. She was really into it...participating and leading the class around the room. She even came home and put on a show for daddy to go over everything she learned. The best!
Gemma's birthday party was amazing. Mommy did a great job putting together the best Peppa Pig celebration ever and Gemma loved it. All the kids had a blast playing together...Alex and Gemma were very excited to play with Jackie and Emily. Late night, lots of laughs.
january 20th - chocolate muddy puddles
Mommy is working her magic...Alex and Gemma are taste testers!
january 19th - stretching that birthday feeling
Gemma likes her balloons and as long as she has them in her hand, it is STILL her birthday.
january 18th - happy birthday gemgem
Our little baby is three years old and we can't figure out how it happened so quickly. Gemma was super excited to wake up, eat her purple birthday pancakes (and strawberries!), and open her present from Alex. Mommy and Daddy blew up tons of balloons for her to wake up to and only came to the brink of unconsciousness twice. Gemma even sang happy birthday to herself, which was absolutely amazing.
At school, Gemma used her birthday to her advantage. She got to do anything she wanted and she would say "it's my birthday so I can do this." Mommy and Daddy brought in cupcakes for snack time with her Koala friends...she was very proud. Passed out all the napkins.
Mommy made Gemma her special cake #1...an ice cream cake. Beeps stopped by for a slice and to wish Gemma a happy birthday. Peppa Pig also made an appearance...along with mommy pig, daddy pig, and george.

january 17th - ready to be three
Gemma got her nails painted tonight so she can be ready for her big birthday tomorrow. Crazy how fast these last three years have gone...
january 16th - mlk day
Daddy and the kids had off today respecting Martin Luther King day so Mommy played hooky too. We went into town shopping and ran into Beeps who seemed to have a new part time job at the Farmhouse Store...although we did not get a family discount on Mommy's tab. We all had lunch at the Taproom to ensure Mommy got to celebrate a serendipitous suburban moment in time.
january 15th - effectively efficient
Mommy had us working today. Alex was organizing legos by the dozens, daddy was hanging frames using a protractor and building furniture, and Gemma...well, watched. Our house is looking more and more like our home every day.
january 14th - winter fun
Gemma got her first haircut today, which was self-administered. She gave herself some bangs and didn't do that bad of a job. Alex alerted us but not before she took off a few chunks.
We took the kids ice skating in Philly today at the River Rink. Both of them had a really good time. Gemma didn't last quite as long as Alex since she is a fair weather skater, but lots of fun. Alex did a good job standing on his own by the end and he is already asking to go again. We hit Stella afterward for pizza, felt like old times. So good. When the waitress delivered our pies, Alex says "oh man I am so hungry, I am gonna destroy this pizza!" Could not stop laughing.
january 13th - it's friday
Morning view from my rocking chair on work from home fridays. Pajamas. Coffee. Fire. Not bad.
january 12th - accenture's next leaders
Mommy and Daddy celebrated Mommy's uuuuge promotion among her peers tonight in NYC's Lincoln Center. Daddy took the train up for a date night out while Beeps picked up the kids at school for a pizza night at home with Grandpa.
Great evening of cocktails, grab assin', dinner, and a private performance by a jazz trio of Julliard musicians...pretty typical night. It was very clear, in between the Duke Ellington arrangements, that Mommy is exceptional. Daddy got to hear a few different leaders talk about the new crop of managing directors and the expectations for moving the company forward. Impressive.
january 11th - viva la hump day
Went to Tortuga's tonight for dinner with Beeps and Grandpa for some quality Mexican. Great food and Alex and Gemma told us all about their day at school. Beeps everln drove Daddy's car home tonight so she can pick up the kids tomorrow. Big seat adjustment.
january 10th - poor gemgem
Gemma came home from school yesterday after projectile vomiting all over her classroom. She seemed to be ok after a day on the couch watching cartoons. Then she woke up at 2am and puked all over herself in bed...another special puke in a mixing bowl in mommy and daddy's room at 3am. Spent most of the day today throwing up everything she tried to eat and drink. Magic. Mommy drew the short straw and was on disinfectant duty.
january 9th - alex the architect
Alex used his magnaformers to build our house. Not a bad replica for a four year old with some vision. He and Gemma also got into their special play-doh beads that they forgot they had been given at Christmas. Lots of building today.
january 8th - proximity positivity
Back to Princeton this morning and loving the advantages of living further north. We made it up to Rhode Island in a little over three hours thursday night and got home by lunch today. Traffic on the way home was not quite as cooperative, but it was great getting home faster than usual. Gemma agreed! She had a mandatory break at the Vince Lombardi rest area for pee and snack.
january 7th - snowy rhode island
After the small snowstorm we got yesterday, we got another 10 inches dumped on us all day today. The kids got to experience their very first bulk store when we went to BJ's to stock up on food ahead of the storm. Spent the rest of the day inside playing, drinking hot chocolate, watching movies, and taking naps....with some day drinking mixed in there for the adults.
Lots of fun and laughs during the day and Alex even got a new sled...which Uncle Mike ran over with the snow blower. It wasn't bad enough that he made Alex and Ben clean off his car, he also destroyed the joy in their lives.

january 6th - get ready to launch
We drove into Rhode Island last night so the kids could wake up this morning and get in some quality cousin time. Uncle Mike and Aunt Amy took us to a trampoline place that Alex and Gemma absolutely loved. They got to bounce for two hours with Ben!!! They had almost as much fun as the adults.
january 5th - surveyed 🍕
Mommy and Daddy had to log an end of year survey to help qualify the kids' classrooms for a pizza party. Each of them got to color a slice of pizza once we finished up the annual review. Alex was very excited about his below...
january 4th - comfort
Alex and Gemma have been loving snuggling up in their sleeping bags and watching TV downstairs. They will sit down there for hours if we let them!
january 2nd - last day
Our last day off for the holiday before going back to school and work. It has been a great couple weeks and we are all dreading reality. Had lunch at Teresa's and a stop at Halo Pub on the way out was a nescessity.
january 1st - officially 2017
It is a new year and we got a bit of a slow start, watching cartoons in bed. Spent the evening with the Drebys in Newtown closing down our Christmas celebrations. Alex and Gemma were excited to bring gifts to Kyle, Lila, and Sienna.
december 31st - bring on 2017
We closed out 2016 at Uncle Frank's house for a quiet dinner and early night. The kids would have made it until midnight, but the adults were pretty much shot. Another great year for our family with lots of big changes. Can't wait to see what 2017 brings, provided Trump doesn't blow up the world. With no house project happening, our focus is on fun!
