Alex's interests lately have been very much focused on basketball. For some reason, he really seems to be into playing and he now wants to stop and watch. There is a court right near our house, so maybe he has just seen it played more than any other sport. Mommy ordered him his very own basketball net and he is beyond excited. Every day he wants to play. "Daddy, you wanna do basketball?"
april 16th - ice cream truck
The ice cream truck is back in the neighborhood and when Alex hears that music coming down the street, the excitement is indescribable. Some days he won't go back inside until he sees the truck. If he hears the music, seeing it drive by is a necessity.
april 15th - on the mend
After the puke heard round the world, Gemma was pretty much up last night throwing up every hour. One of the incidents included a direct hit in Mommy's eye, while laying in our bed. Kind of tough to go back to sleep at 4am when you have just ripped the sheets from your bed. She was a cuddle today though because she didn't really feel like moving.
april 14th - you just do it
Poor Gemma has some major molars coming in and has strep throat. She had a bit of a rough day, which quickly got worse for all of us. While we were all sitting around the dinner table, Gemma had an exorcist-style vomit for a good 30 seconds. It just wouldn't stop coming out. Most unfortunate because it was right in the middle of Mexican night. Ever try to finish eating a Mexican feast after watching a child vomit a gallon of yogurt smelling fluid and then cleaning it up?
april 13th - a gift from abroad
The Adams family sent Gemma a dress all the way from England. She really loves it and had to put it on over her pajamas. Stripes and polka dots are really hot right now. Alex got a sweatshirt that he thinks is "awesome."
april 12th - sibling love for sugar
Sunday in the city, with a quick stop out to a park for a 3-year old birthday party....just in time to feed our kids cake for dinner.
april 11th - safety first
We went back to Princeton today to meet with our architect and builder and review drawings. Alex had to bring his scooter and HAD to wear his helmet the entire drive, which is an hour. He was sweating bullets out of his head by the time we got there, but he never took that damn helmet off. Gemma thought it was funny for a few minutes, but lost interest. We went to Growlers for dinner (with two bikes)...Gemma's screaming phase just to hear the sound of her voice is the tops. I hope it lasts forever.
april 8th - keeping it warm
Mommy is out of town today, so Alex decided he wanted to sleep in her spot. Seemed like a good idea until the alarm went off at 6:00am.
april 6th - instincts
Alex opened one of his birthday presents today and is absolutely thrilled with his scooter. It is as if he has been riding it for three years. He just picked it up and knew exactly what to do with it...hilarious. He zips up and down the sidewalk so fast it is enough to give you a heart attack.
Even more hilarious is how Gemma just knows what she is supposed to do with her baby dolls. Every night, she puts them in the crib, pretends to change them, sits with them in the crib for a bit, she kisses them goodnight, and covers them with the blanket. Everything HAS to go in the bag.

april 5th - what's up gemma?
Gemma's first real Easter as a mobile, Easter bunny trail following little person. She got a hold of the carrots that were left out for the Easter bunny and that was all she needed. Alex, on the other hand, helped Mommy and Daddy with their trails and was a Mr. helper. Of course, after seeing Alex Gemma got the idea of what she was supposed to be doing and went nuts. Ben just sat and watched...played it cool and let people bring things to him. Beeps went over the top as usual, but the kids loved every minute.
We went to Uncle Gary and Aunt Charissa's for dinner and all of the cousins got to hang out. Gemma found Farrah's beaded necklaces and we could not get her to move. Put it on...take it off...repeat.

april 4th - alex's big day
Alex had a genuine ear to ear grin on his face throughout the entire day. Nothing could take away the excitement he had to be spending his entire birthday party on a train...not even an unfortunate run in with the business end of a bic lighter.
All of his favorite people met him on the platform at the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad to board the train. He HAD to wear his Thomas conductor hat and he was screaming all aboard for weeks. He was such a good boy and to see him that happy was amazing.
We had one train ride for all of the kids to sit down and have lunches that Mommy had specially packed. Then, a second for birthday cupcakes from the Thomas train. Alex got a special treat to see the engine recouple to the train...and then another special treat when he and Daddy got to go onto the engine and meet the engineers.
After the party, we headed to Beeps' and Grandpa's for the annual "stranger danger"feast. The kids got to play with cousin Ben, who was in town from Rhode Island. The adults drank lots of alcohol and acted like children....What's Passover????....Wait, What's Passover???

april 3rd - party preparations
Alex's birthday party on the choo choo train is tomorrow and Mommy is hard at work making the finishing touches. Alex is so excited and has not stopped talking about this birthday party for the last two months.
april 2nd - alex is three!!!
Alex woke up this morning on his third birthday to a living room full of balloons and a brand new bike. "oooh look at these decorations," says Alex as he came down the steps. We went to Morning Glory for breakfast, had a spin around the block on his new bike, and Jackie came over to take the kids to the park. The day began as a pretty perfect birthday as far as Alex was concerned.
The weather was beautiful, so we went for a long walk around the neighborhood. Alex got to stop at a candy store and pick out his favorites...more M&M's....surprise, surprise. Alex and Daddy made a homemade pizza (at Alex's request) for dinner which was enjoyed the most by Gemma. Then, as if we needed more sweets, we attacked the birthday cake with three forks. No plates required.

april 1st - birthday dorks
Alex and Gemma got to help Mommy bake a birthday cake for Alex this morning. Alex filled the entire thing with M&M's, while Grandmum watched a did very little to monitor the situation. We had Alex's favorite pasta for dinner and then ice cream sundaes! He was very excited to blow out the candles, but not even close to how fired up he was to eat ice cream.
march 31st - chips?
The kids dyed easter eggs this morning with Mommy. Alex was very excited and really liked his black egg that resulted from mixing too many colors. Gemma helped herself to some chips...then Alex and Daddy ended up having to eat them off of the floor to clean up her mess.
march 30th - baked goods
Alex made easter bunny cookies with Jackie today. He was very proud of them and had to show them to Daddy the second he got home from work.
march 29th - mommy's home...and hungry
Mommy came home today from Texas and was ready to eat. We took Alex to get his new helmet at the bike store on Delaware Ave...then we went to dinner where Alex insisted he were the helmet. Gemma had quite a time eating dinner at Santucci's.
march 28th - lord give me strength
Mommy had to leave to go to Texas at 4am this morning, so Daddy got the esteemed privilege of taking the kids to Evan Castaneda's birthday party at the Children's Discovery Museum in South Jersey. Ten birthday parties happening at this place today. The standard format is feed the kids pizza and sugar...then release them into a please-touch-museum-style romper room. Hundreds of kids...mostly strangers....dozens of rooms....two Burger kids...one parent...thermostat set to 106 degrees...hell on earth. We all needed a drink afterward. Gemma went for the cognac.
march 24th - easter crafts
Alex made some easter crafts today while Gemma supervised. He hand painted his own eggs to give to people as presents.
march 23rd - anyone seen gemma?
Gemma loves putting the easter egg bucket on her head and walking around the house. Somehow she never bumps into anything...not quite sure how she does it.
march 22nd - spring fun
Alex went with Mommy this morning to shop for supplies for his big 3rd birthday, while Gemma stayed home with Daddy. Alex vetoed Mommy's color selection because he wanted a different blue. Gemma decided to give herself a ride in her baby stroller...which almost ended in a trip to the ER. Then she fell off the turtle at Palumbo, which didn't go over very well either.
march 21st - attitudes and artwork
Gemma unhappy about being in the car for a day of running errands...Alex drew a nice picture of our house and even called out each of their bedrooms.
march 19th - a seat at the counter
Both kids love sitting on the counter while we prepare breakfast in the morning. They usually each get a banana down before they even make it to the table.
march 17th - everyone's irish today
Mommy made the kids green pancakes to celebrate st patrick's day. Alex was really funny...during bath time he said to daddy..."happy st patrick's day daddy."
march 16th - afternoon stroll
Gemma got out for a stroll around the neighborhood in her hot pants. She is insistent that she walks everywhere now, and refuses any assistance. Also had a lot of compliments on her pants.
