march 27th - an artist at work

Alex spent his day being crafty.  He made play-doh balls in the morning after breakfast and painted a masterpiece at a local place that is open to kids his age this afternoon.  In the evening, he burned off his excess energy on his stallion, Rockin' Rody...pants optional.

Gemma is so adorable it makes you want to pinch her...she was all smiles today and loving hanging out with her big brother.

march 26th - sleepy time

Gemma is a lazy bum.  Her favorite past time is snuggling and snoozing...especially in the morning after she has had her breakfast.

march 25th - roar!

Alex went to the Academy of Natural Sciences today with his buddy Drew to see the dinosaurs.  He was sooo excited to go and it is all he would talk about the night before.  The two boys had a great time and Alex was roaring all night.

march 24th - happy monday

Gemma is so smiley.  Her mornings are now filled with coo'ing and grinning at Mommy.  She is so excited and happy in the morning...a nice way to start the day.

march 23rd - the dreby's are suburbanites

Daddy helped Todd and Tracey move into their new house today in Newtown, PA.  Good exercise, but the next day was painful....damn basement boxes.

Alex, Gemma, and Mommy went to Princeton to go shopping with Grandma Beeps.  Dangerous situation, however, they all made it back with a minimal number of bags.  Alex officially bought his first pair of shoes...at least a pair where he was physically measured.  He was a bit turned off by people touching his feet, but was so proud of his new sneakers.  When he and Mommy picked up Daddy later, he was so excited to show Daddy his new kicks.

march 22nd - awesome day

The Burgers had a busy (but amazing) day today.  It was 60+ degrees, so we spent most of it outside.  Alex and Daddy got back to their Saturday ritual of coffee shops and pastries...but not before reading three books at the same time in bed.  When we got back, the coffee must have gotten the best of Alex because he assumed the position in his corner to take a dump.

The whole family went into the city to enjoy the weather and run some errands, which always leads to lunch and booze.  The parents got tipsy, Gemma slept, and Alex ate ketchup.  On the way home, we stopped and got beer...Alex's new thing is he needs to ride home on the case.  We adopted a couple cousins for dinner and Alex play time, which was a nice chance to catch up with Todd and Linda.

march 21st - gemma's two month checkup...alex's soccer debut

Gemma went in for her two month checkup at the pediatrician this morning.  Her fancy outfit was not enough to convince the nurse out of giving her four shots in her little legs.  She was not happy.

Weight: 11lb 1oz
Length: 22.5 inches
Melon: 15.5 inches

Alex spent the entire walk after his first soccer class continuing to practice kicking.  hilarious!

march 20th - first day of spring = free water ice

Gemma was not as excited as Alex to wake up to the first day of Spring this morning.  Likely because she was not aware that Rita's on South Street gives away free water ice.  Jackie and Mommy took Alex over a little late....after school let out....big mistake.

march 19th - gemma sleeps...alex howls

Baby Gemma loves napping in her crib and is such a happy baby.  So quiet during the day with very little fussing...although Alex more than makes up for it these days.

march 18th - five o'clock shadow

Alex loved getting into his shaving kit.  Not getting the idea of keeping the shaving cream on his face, but still a pretty hilarious part of his bath time routine.

march 17th - lent is on pause so drink like a good catholic

Gemma's first St. Patrick's Day was not absent of the obligatory green attire.  Although, besides wearing green, she was relatively unimpressed.  Alex ate leprechaun poop pancakes for breakfast this morning, which he thought was a nice treat.  Should be a fun, late evening of listening to the drunks stumble home through the neighborhood.

march 16th - taste testing

We ran some errands this morning and Alex got a new pair of sunglasses, which he had to wear while he helped Daddy make meatballs.  Mommy did some prepping for Alex's big 2nd birthday party coming up.  Gemma just hung out in a bowl.

march 15th - happy birthday evan

We went to south jersey today to celebrate Evan Castaneda's 1st birthday.  In the morning, Alex did a little shopping for the essentials and Gemma took some photos with Mommy.  The party was a great time...Alex loved hanging with all of his buddies and Elmo even showed up.  Some children may be permanently scarred after seeing the way the adults behaved with Elmo, but no one had a melt down.

march 14th - i love lucy

Alex has a new love interest in his life named Lucy.  He has gotten over Sophia and is now seen all about town hugging and smooching on Lucy.  He and Jackie hopped around the city today and even made it all the way over to Rittenhouse Square to enjoy the weather.

march 13th - quality time

Gramps and Grandmum came down to philly for lunch with the kids today.  They were having so much fun that they stayed for dinner.  Alex had a stage 4 blow out, so he was in his pajamas before sun down.  They had no choice but to stick around if they wanted to see Gemma awake....she slept the entire day.

march 12th - mr. independent

Alex and Jackie strolled the city today playing at the park.  Alex MUST walk everywhere and he is getting too cool for school.  He now discovered his jacket has pockets so now he can tuck his hands in while he walks and put out the vibe.

march 11th - first family dinner out

We made it out for our first family of four dinner at Stella tonight.  The weather is amazing, so we walked down to headhouse square.  Alex loved his pizza...not quite as much as his gelato.  He walked all the way there and most of the way home.  Surprising...since he walked all over with Jackie today and was doing wind sprints on our street before we left.

march 10th - little sweetie pie

It is feeling like spring so Gemma broke out her hat to celebrate.  The weather forecast is calling for two days of 60 degree weather before another snowstorm headed our way on Thursday.  Hopefully the weather men are as accurate as they typically are and we do not get any more snow this winter.  Spring is calling and we are ready to get the hell out of the house.

march 9th - damn the irish

Everyone has had enough of St. Patrick's Day except Alex.  Daddy and Gemma slept off a day of loud music, beer, and unhealthy food, while Alex strapped on his leprechaun hat and danced around.  It was a very lazy Sunday that ended very early for the entire Burger household.

march 8th - everybody's irish

We celebrated St. Patty's day back in jersey today for the Hamilton parade.  Mark and Shannon live near the parade route, so they hosted a mad house of children in the morning for the appropriate pre-parade festivities.  Before we left Alex helped Mommy bake a batch of brownies as our contribution to the party.

All the kids played in the yard with Brayden's toys, while the adults relived adolescence with pork roll and irish car bombs.  Alex loved seeing all of the cars in the parade...and he was even more excited when he stumbled upon Grandma Beeps and Grandpa Mike, who were also at the parade.  Gemma wore her Irish gear, but pretty much slept through the entire day.

march 7th - getting big

Gemma is growing like a weed.  Her chubby cheeks are filling out and she is getting really long.  We had an impromptu dinner party with the Dreby's tonight.  Kyle and Alex were keeping Gemma entertained while the adults had stimulating conversation.  Times have changed.  Usually friday nights with todd and tracey ended with stumbling around the streets of philadelphia drinking whatever last bottle of wine the restaurant foolishly served us...now its diapers and pajamas.

march 6th - crib time for gemma

Gemma is starting to take naps in her crib and she is loving it...she would probably sleep anywhere we put her.  She is such a good baby...very low maintenance and rarely cries.  Alex, however, is getting more talkative every day.  He still surprises us with something he says each day that he didn't say the day before.  Even funnier is to see him out gabbing with his buddies about the neighborhood gossip at Starbuck's.  He just started using a new sippy cup that looks like Daddy's coffee mug and he is very proud.

march 5th - holy hell

Alex's illness has migrated south.  704 S Hutchinson Street is now on 24/7 poo patrol.  It is a dirty job, but we have been laughing non-stop.  poor buddy.

march 4th - a momentous fat tuesday

Gemma smiles, mardi gras winds down, national pancake day, and Alex's first vomit.  The day started out fine, but by the end of it, Alex was full blown sick and throwing up his pancakes.  However, he didn't let a little throw up stop him from his favorite meal...once he was stripped down he went for round two.

march 3rd - happy birthday dr seuss...and aunt tracey

Today was a 100th birthday celebration for Dr Seuss at the nest.  Jackie took Alex to join the festivities...although, the cat in the hat was not his favorite.  He played a little basketball while he was there to get his heart rate up.

Gemma slept all day in the nice warm house.  We got blasted with another 4-6 inches of snow this morning, so it was another pj day for her in peace and quiet.

march 2nd - boy's day out

Mommy and Gemma went to south jersey to pick up materials at Joanne Fabrics.  Since Alex and Daddy would rather watch paint dry then to be caught dead at Joanne Fabrics, we went out in the city for some man time.  We took the train, which made Alex very happy.  He was so interested in everything on the train and waiting on the tracks.  He didn't quite make it to lunch before falling asleep, but he did wake up for a stop at Federal Donuts.  He carried them home and was so proud of himself.

march 1st - i like smiling...smiling's my favorite

The smiles are getting bigger and bigger...Gemma is such a happy little girl in the morning.  Alex had an eventful morning too.  He started out by hiding in the lazy susan sneaking tostitos while waiting for Daddy to make pancakes for breakfast.  Once his pancakes were onboard, he hid under the counter to take his morning dump in private.  Then, he was completely immasculated when he went with mommy to get her nails done.  Although, he did get his cookies and was loving on Vicky.

february 28th - smell my feet

The big brother pranks and gross behavior has begun...soon enough it will evolve into dutch ovens, wet willies, and wiping boogers in her hair.  She thinks it is funny but that is sure to end quickly.

february 27th - sweet pea

How can you not take your time getting out of bed when this little face is looking back at you.  Gemma loves lounging in the morning...what else does she have to do with her day?  She's only 6 weeks old and already causing us to be late.

february 26th - work it boyfriend

Alex strutted his stuff in his get up that HE picked out this morning....complete with Jackie's glasses (his fave accessory).  Somewhat resembles a miniature, flamboyant, icelandic fashion model....although the hat is soooo last season.

february 25th - somebody's smiling

Gemma started smiling today.  She is really happy in the morning and mommy is able to get her smiling...she also finds her older brother to be quite hilarious.  May be because she sees him in larger than life scale when he gets up in her grill all the time.
