february 23rd - 57 degrees in february
We got outside today to enjoy the weather while it lasts. It was a bit of a slow start, but eventually we got outside. We were a bit slowed down when Alex decided to do a nude weigh in on the scale and whizzed all over the floor. Once we got him locked down in a diaper he and Gemma had some bonding time.
Alex met up with his buddy Drew at Seger and they had a blast. Riding the see-saw, giggling, and high-fiving.

february 22nd - bring on the constipation
The kids spent the morning hanging out with Grandma Beeps at our house. She brought some blueberry cake for breakfast and we had Alex's favorite for lunch...pizza. Alex had a great time showing Grandma around the neighborhood.
Nap time in the car today on the way to Lancaster for the annual family cook off dinner. Alex made it to his typical spot...222 before waking up and wanting out of his car seat. This year's dish was mac and cheese. Six different kinds of mac and cheese to try...we have an abundance of toilet paper at our house due to the lack of activity.
february 21st - Gemma's one month visit
After a fun morning at home watching Alex brush his chompers while wearing his hard hat, we went for Gemma's one month visit.
Weight: 9lbs 12oz (75%)
Length: 21 inches (57%)
Head: 15 inches (94%)

february 20th - girls go shopping...men put on hard hats
Today, mommy and Gemma went shopping in the city. More like returning, but it still required two women to walk through multiple retail locations...which is a recipe for disaster. Although, if it isn't delivered to our door in a big brown box by UPS, Mommy is uninterested. Nevertheless, it was 50 degrees today, so they got our for some exercise. Alex stayed home, put on his hard hat, and did man things. He even went to bed in his hard hat....it made laying down a bit tricky, but minimal risk of head injury.
february 19th - taming the faux hawk
Gemma's hair gets a little greasy and unmanageable after a couple days, so she must have a shampoo and a rinse to feel like herself again. No facial today, but she did have her nails trimmed.
february 18th - global warming my ass
Snow again. We got about 3-4 inches overnight and it is causing more chaos in the city. There are very few places left to put the snow...although if Alex had his way he would eat all of it. Fortunately, he knows yellow snow is off limits...he calls it poop snow. He and Jackie went out for a roll around in the fresh powder this afternoon. Alex was a little upset that someone dared to make footprints in the snow before him...hence the melt down.
Gemma is officially one month old and packing on the pounds. She already seems so big...

february 17th - monday sucks
Off to work for Daddy while these two lazy bums stayed in bed all morning. Alex was even sleeping late today and Jackie had to let herself in and provide a family wake up call. Seems everyone has off for President's day but somehow GSK didn't get the memo.
february 16th - brunch with ryleigh
Cousin Ryleigh came down for brunch today and played with the kids. She is a dancing fool and we were trying to get Alex to dance with her this morning. He only dances in his room and only with daddy. A bit on the shy side, or maybe he wasn't digging her music. Alex and Ryleigh shoveled in the pancakes while Gemma passed on the carbs.
february 15th - daddy's back....
...it only took four states, 11 hours and 762 miles for daddy to get back last night for bath time. We spent a restful morning lounging in bed and took many naps. Seems while daddy was away Alex stopped wearing pants.
This afternoon Uncle Mike and Aunt Amy came over to meet Gemma. We had lunch (Alex had multiple) and just hung out watching it snow...AGAIN.
february 14th - happy valentine's day
Daddy's flights keep getting cancelled so he rented a car to drive home from Chicago! Meanwhile, Alex is spending the day with his valentine (Jackie). Gemma and Mommy are trying to catch up on the missed sleep from last night. (Gemma has a rough night thanks to the glass of wine that Mommy enjoyed with friends). Alex picked out some beautiful tulips for Mommy and was her dinner date tonight (we ordered pizza). Daddy arrived home in time for bath and book time with Alex and some cuddles with Gemma.

february 13th - nor'easter .... no daddy
A Nor'easter hit Philly and Daddy is stuck in Chicago (now until Saturday .... instead of flying home tonight like originally planned). Jackie stayed over so Mommy wouldn't be flying solo today. We were all up early to make french toast and Jackie/Alex headed out to play in the snow. After a few snow angels and some running up and down Hutchinson, Alex was over it. So they came in to bake Valentine's Day cupcakes. Mommy and Gemma bundled up to head to 413 Fulton Street for the last Girls Wine night there (super sad) ....but it was fun to introduce Gemma to Kelly & Jill. All of the snow is melting and huge puddles were everywhere - but we pulled out the Bob to make it.
february 12th - can never wear too much green
Day 2 with Daddy out of town! But we have Jackie, so all is great in our world. Alex started the day brushing with not 1 but 2 tooth brushes. Alex decided to wear his green rain boots and green hat to go with his green shirt. Yes, he walked all the way to the Nest today in this get up. Gemma continues to amaze Mommy, she is such a good sleeper and is such a sweet heart. Big brother Alex is so good with Gemma, he will sit and talk to her saying "hiiiiiiiiiiii" and insist she wear a hat. Tonight he requested to hold her - he knows he needs to use the boppy pillow and is so gentle with her. As we await the next big snow storm, Jackie decided to sleep over so Mommy doesn't have to fly solo with the kiddos tomorrow.
february 11th - up up and away
Daddy flew to chicago on an airplane (which is up in the sky according to Alex hiding behind the lamp) this morning but that didn't slow down life. Story time this morning was exciting with Alex's buddy Drew and Alex started doing the movements for a tune about Jack in the Box (jackie might be a little tired of saying the same sentence over and over). Gemma slept really well last night (4 hour and 3 hour increments) so Mommy was pretty happy. We ended the day with some serious giggles and some tickle monster action. (daddy away so mommy is taking over the blog for a few days- sorry to the readers for lack of daddy humor and the lack of organized pictures...but mommy gets an A for effort!)
february 10th - the inevitable demands of corporate america...occasional presence
Daddy is back to the grind after being home pretty much since Gemma was born. Mommy magic was put to the test for breakfast time...feeding Alex oatmeal with her go-go-gadget right arm and making sure Gemma didn't take a digger off of the couch with her left. Good practice for when Daddy shoves off to balmy Chicago tomorrow. Alex is preparing for the impending Nor'easter by wearing his boots in the event that he comes upon an unexpected snow bank or needs to tame a wild crocodile in a shallow stream.
february 8th - putting mommy together
Our monumental first family outing this weekend to run some errands and stop by Grandma Beeps and Grandpa Mike's house. Alex had to help Mommy pull herself together since it has been a while away from civilization. Gemma decided doing her hair was too much work and just put on her weekend hat. Alex commanded several different meals within minutes of walking into Grandma's house, which he selectively ate....mostly to see what he could get away with for sure. As if that were not enough, he poked fun at Beeps' passion for finger pointing during intense story telling (which we got on video later that night).
february 7th - impromptu visit
Mark and Drew pulled a stop and chat this afternoon to get happy hour going a little early on a Friday afternoon. Gemma got to meet Mark and Alex's buddy Drew came over for dinner at our house tonight. The two of them played non-stop, shared water to stay hydrated, and took turns wearing Mr. Potato Head's glasses. Gemma posed for more photos this afternoon...as if she had a choice.
february 6th - hello neighbor...do you wanna be my friend
Our neighbors, Chip and Mickey, came over tonight to meet baby Gemma and brought us dinner and dessert. Alex ate the dessert. Chip is one of Alex's favorite people in the neighborhood, so the two of them bonded over Isgro cookies. Gemma soaked up the love, while Mommy and Daddy ate some pizza from Santucci's.
february 5th - first snow, now ice
Another chilly day turned the city into an ice sculpture, so there was not much outdoor activity in the Burger household. Alex had his bath last night and learned how to shave. Gemma did her usual eating, pooping, and sleeping. She also had a few different outfits on due to the occasional projectile vomit...all in good fun.
february 4th - lunch with gramps...dinner with cousin farrah
Gramps came down to Philly today to take Mommy and Gemma out to lunch. Then, got some time to read to Alex on his new favorite seat (the staircase). Gemma was a good girl during her first restaurant experience and got in a good nap before cousin Farrah, Uncle Gary, and Aunt Charissa came down for dinner.
february 3rd - beware the syrup burglars
One last day off for daddy before going back to work meant some homemade french toast for breakfast. One of Alex's favorites and he was very careful not to leave the syrup around for anyone to come by and swipe it while he waited for his breakfast. His afternoon sit on the pot was a bit more humorous than usual...
february 2nd - gemma's first super bowl
Gemma is either not a football fan or her general lack of interest in the game is because she is a girl....she could care less about the super bowl. We hung out all day watching the pre-game, but Alex took a break for arts and crafts time to make his valentines cards.
february 1st - sleepyheads
Daddy was the only one that made it without a morning nap today. The rest of the Burger household had a lazy morning. April came over this afternoon to meet baby Gemma and brought us lunch. Alex was showing her everyone of his toys, including his new bulldozer that Todd and Tracey brought him last night...and did not want her to leave.
Uncle Frank came over tonight for his first meet and greet with Gemma and stuck around for dinner...and eventually breakfast.

january 31st - kids sleep anywhere
Alex was an early riser this morning and we were not quite ready for it...so he established a perimeter in our bed. Daddy had to work and watch Gemma at the same time while Mommy went and got her nails done, so she took a nap in plain sight in the middle of the office. She is not picky.
The Dreby's came over to our house tonight for dinner and to meet Gemma. It took Kyle about four hours to realize there was another baby in the room. Pretty soon he will have his own baby brother or sister. He and Alex were busy at play until 10pm.
